Model Overview:

Sold from 2003-'11, the Honda Element compact crossover SUV remains one of the most distinctive and practical vehicles on the road. Happy Element owners are often city dwellers who appreciate both its small size and generous 75-cubic-foot maximum cargo capacity. Another notable element about the Element is the ability of its access-style rear doors to pivot backward a full 90 degrees, providing unimpeded access to the roomy and creatively configurable rear seats.

A used Element of any vintage is easy to recommend thanks to its functional interior, smooth four-cylinder engine and carlike handling, not to mention Honda's reputation for reliability. That said, it's worthwhile to focus your search on 2007 and newer models, as they offer a bit more power and enhanced safety features.

  • My Car is Elemental - 2005 Honda Element

Ive owned my 2004 EX $wd AT since September. It has just shy of 10,000 miles of trouble free miles. Ultimate in flexibility, great for tall people and my tall teens, and plenty of guts to move on the highway. Took a business trip to a conference with an associate and loaded the E with the Booth/Display, brochure, stands, luggage, etc. We were cruisng down the Interstate about 82 mph and he was amazed at how rock solid it felt and relatively quiet---no wind noise and average road noise for a small wheelbase SUV.

Just after buying our 2004 Element we took off on a long trip from Virginia to Florida. At 64" and 200 lbs., I have found the element to be a very comfortable car to drive. It performed flawlessly on the trip. I like it because of its small size outside, yet its huge on the inside. Im very happy with mine, and would buy another.

When I first saw the 2003 Honda Element, I did not find it as unattractive as some but I did think it looked odd and unusual, which I liked. My cousin recently got a 2004. As soon as I stepped inside her Element, I knew that I wanted one. The outside appearance is deceptive because it leads you to believe that the interior will be small. WRONG!! I ordered accessories for my Element the day after I bought it. I love driving it. Even though Honda created this vehicle to appeal to young males, Im sure that they have been pleased to find that men and women of various ages like the vehicle. Bottom line...its a lot of SUV for the money!!

  • Mini Hummer but reliable - 2003 Honda Element

Great ride and handling. Last tank on the road I got 25mpg. Looks like a refrigerator on wheels but lots of storage space -- great for my dog. Reliability to date outstanding.

Ive been reading reviews on this vehicle for a month. All the positives are absolutely true. This is an awesome vehicle. Everyone who looks at ours just loves it. I traded in my Cadillac Seville to travel the road with this little SUV. Going from a V8 Northstar to a 4 cylinder is a little adjustment. The 4 speed automatic seems to have plenty of pep for me. It is comparable to other 4 cyl. cars Ive owned. When we picke it up my daughters were asking if I could pick them up from school to show off the Element to their friends.

We absolutely love it! Our kids where shocked when informed that we bought it. Their one question was, "what was your second choice -- a US Postal truck." But we love the choice. Its solid, reliable, has good pickup, amazingly easy to get in and out of, and is stable -- and above all, its FUNKY!!! After driving Mercedes over the past 30+ years, our ELEMENT is fun, refreshing, and different from other cars on the road!

The amount of room in this is AMAZING. I walked into the dealership and was blown away. Loaded it up with almost EVERY option I could think of and STILL got it for under $23K. But did have to wait a few weeks to get everything in. 4WD has been a great and the amount of leg room was very surprising.
