Model Overview:

Sold from 2003-'11, the Honda Element compact crossover SUV remains one of the most distinctive and practical vehicles on the road. Happy Element owners are often city dwellers who appreciate both its small size and generous 75-cubic-foot maximum cargo capacity. Another notable element about the Element is the ability of its access-style rear doors to pivot backward a full 90 degrees, providing unimpeded access to the roomy and creatively configurable rear seats.

A used Element of any vintage is easy to recommend thanks to its functional interior, smooth four-cylinder engine and carlike handling, not to mention Honda's reputation for reliability. That said, it's worthwhile to focus your search on 2007 and newer models, as they offer a bit more power and enhanced safety features.

I stopped by just to lock inside one. Test drove it. Took it home for the weekend and, didnt want to give it back. The room in the front did it for me. I hate things close to my face. No problem here. My wife has a pilot and for every day use, I prefer the Element. My grand kids love the rear seats. They set up high enough to see out.

Yup! Pretty cool. This is what the underpowered plasticky PT Cruiser has been posing as all along. Horray for the HONDA transmisions.

  • Fun Car ! - 2003 Honda Element

Brought the EX with a bunch of add-ons last week after 6 weeks of research. Paid MSRP of $19900. Attracts a lot of attention were ever it goes. Deceptivly quite on the road- just a whisper of road noise- engine performs well on acceleration. My first tank of gas averaged 24.2 mpg on mostly highway driving--not bad considering it has the areodynamics of a box of crackers! Comfortable -high seating position, although Im not a big fan of the seats- could use a bit more of thigh support. Overall, a fun car with an extremly verstile interior....Glad I got it!!

I like Mt. Biking and Kayaking. The Element is the perfect vehicle for that. I got an aftermarket roof-rack from Thule for the Kayak and the Mt. Bike fits in the Element standing up if I just put up one of the back seats! I love not having to mess with a bike rack or take off the front tire. I just roll it in! The water proof seats and wipe out floor mean I dont need to worry about throwing in my wet and dirty paddling gear.

  • sportscar performance/pickup truck fun - 2004 Honda Element

I first experienced the element 1 year ago and loved it. The small turning radius, and low end torque make it a very good city vehicle, while the sixteen inch wheels and ground clearance make it work on rough unpaved roads. I did change out the tires right away though to michelin 225 mud and snow. This gives a much better "feel" to turning and driving on wet and non paved surfaces. The stereo is also outstanding, as I am a music fan and listen constantly at home and the road. The limited oustside vision is overcome by paying attention to mirrors, and the sometimes choppy ride, is worth the maneuverability of the short wheelbase. I was able to eliminate a car&truck, while gaining an ins.disc.

I got my Honda Element a little over 2 months ago. I chose to get the 4wd-Ex model in Sunset Orange Pearl. I absoultely love this vehicle. It performs great, and I get looks every where I go. I would recommend the Element to anyone that is in the market for an eye-catching vehicle, and who wants something that is great to drive and just so much fun!

  • What was I thinking? - 2005 Honda Element

With its one-of-a-kind look, I thought I wanted this vehicle. I have had this car for about 5 months now and this is really not the car for me. I find it to be very impractical. Have had to litterally back out of my parking spot to open the back doors to load groceries and children. Steering wheel blocks the view of the speedometer and I have found it does not handle well around corners. Putting the back seats up blocks visibility. Although, cargo room is great. I Have driven across the state several times with a load full of baseball gear and luggage and could still see out of all the windows. Also nice to drag your big dog around in. Good car for active singles, not families.

This is a great car. It does everything we want: goes up steep driveways without a problem, handles bumpy dirt roads, easy clean out after a trip with the dogs or a visit to the beach. It is ideal whether we are in Oregon or Mexico.
