Model Overview:

Sold from 2003-'11, the Honda Element compact crossover SUV remains one of the most distinctive and practical vehicles on the road. Happy Element owners are often city dwellers who appreciate both its small size and generous 75-cubic-foot maximum cargo capacity. Another notable element about the Element is the ability of its access-style rear doors to pivot backward a full 90 degrees, providing unimpeded access to the roomy and creatively configurable rear seats.

A used Element of any vintage is easy to recommend thanks to its functional interior, smooth four-cylinder engine and carlike handling, not to mention Honda's reputation for reliability. That said, it's worthwhile to focus your search on 2007 and newer models, as they offer a bit more power and enhanced safety features.

I was surprised by the overall practicallity of this vehicle. Everything in the car has its place and purpose, from the numerous cup holders between the driver and passenger seats to the back seats being slightly higher than the front.

I bought the 2003 Element 2 weeks ago and it has been a pleasant surprise to drive. The driver position feels higher up, and the vehicle feels bigger than it is. Manuevering is excellent and acceleration is acceptable in this class. Most of all, this vehicle is practical, it has what you need when you need it. The price is reasonable, quality excellent, resale expected to be good. Crash test ratings expected to be 5 star. Overall, this vehicle is awsome. I recomend it over the CR-V.

  • Roomy, Zoomy, and So Much Fun!!! - 2005 Honda Element

I love this vehicle. Its so neat, I really researched before buying. Its smooth and accelerates fast enough to enter traffic competitively with everyone else. Have been in 20 knot winds driving across the desert, it held strong, and only buffeted along with other cars on the road. Held a feeling of security and reassurance! Also, there arent any blind spots, just fan out those mirrors all the way out till you barely see a "sliver" of your vehicle, point them slightly down to catch those sitting lower that we do :O) and bingo, great view of the whole passing lane. I love the clean interior, easy sweep, the seats are comfy and the sunroof terrific! Manuverable too! Love the space!

Drives and handles well. Good view of the road. Excellent utility. Great storage space. I use it for my antique buisness and it will hold 1 english draw leaf table and 4 chairs. About $1500 over priced. I am suprised that non of the other makers have countered with there own model. I am insulted by Hondas marketing atitude. I have liked the element since the introduction but almost didnt get it when I saw the terrible commercials. I guess in the end Honda thought my money was green enough even though I am over 40.

  • Too Much Fun - 2005 Honda Element

I find this vehicle to be a blast to drive. I have never owned a four cylinder vehicle and this I must say has the pick up I need. It is simply amazing at what you can pack in such a compact vehicle. It does have some road noise but the super sound system takes care of that. I find this vehicle has most all the opions a person needs to be comfortable. The seating is great and I have back problems. I would highly recommend this car to anyone and too, I must say the fuel economy is super and in this time and age we need to consider that. Overall it is just a fun little SUV that packs an amazing amout of stuff and is a lot of fun to drive.

The most fun, all around useful vehicle Ive owned or been around in years. 25mpg at 75-80mph. Travels very well with wife, 2 dogs and luggage. Very short turning radius makes town driving and parking lots go-cart easy. Honda quality and reliability.

Great cargo space, superior seat comfort. Incredible pick-up. Wonderful storage nooks, drawers and crannies to discover. The overhead reading lights are great! There is just so much car in a small space, Ive never enjoyed driving and been so proud of a vehicle!

  • Honda Element Rocks! - 2005 Honda Element

Did someone say the Element was designed for the 20s crowd! Well, excuse me for showing up invited and crashing the party. Sure, it is a great vehicle for bikes, camping, skis and all that active lifestyle stuff. The wife says (yea, officially its her car) its also great for hauling stuff from garage sales, craft shows, and any other sale that gets in her way. Its also great for hauling the grandkids around with all their stuff. Whats not to like? Practical, functional, reliable, relatively inexpensive plus AWD and all the normal safety features!

  • Hondas homage to the VW bus - 2003 Honda Element

The name Element suggests alchemy, and thats what has emerged from the Honda lab: a bit of the original Volkswagen buss utility and oddball form combined with Honda reliability (I hope). Ive mostly hated the cars Ive owned as necessary evils, but I love my Element.
