Model Overview:

Sold from 2003-'11, the Honda Element compact crossover SUV remains one of the most distinctive and practical vehicles on the road. Happy Element owners are often city dwellers who appreciate both its small size and generous 75-cubic-foot maximum cargo capacity. Another notable element about the Element is the ability of its access-style rear doors to pivot backward a full 90 degrees, providing unimpeded access to the roomy and creatively configurable rear seats.

A used Element of any vintage is easy to recommend thanks to its functional interior, smooth four-cylinder engine and carlike handling, not to mention Honda's reputation for reliability. That said, it's worthwhile to focus your search on 2007 and newer models, as they offer a bit more power and enhanced safety features.

I do alot of camping and outdoor stuff in general. Ive had my canoe on top, two mountain bikes inside and camping gear for three people with room to spare. I also have a dog that loves to take road trips and I like not having to worry about carpet and upholstery since the interior is designed to "get dirty" and clean up easily. Did alot of research - this truck has way more space inside than most "full size" SUVs!

Traded a 98 Explorer, havent missed it yet. More cargo room, more fun to drive, and I can pass gas stations. Average 26mpg on hwy at or above speed limit. Highly recommend for people with animals or kids, can easily wipe up interior.

My car was overpriced for what it is!It rides comfortable for the two front passangers but for those who ride in the back, it rides rough. Pick up speed is slow. The outside look of the car draws attention. I put my car through many tests and here are the results per each senario. For moving and shopping with my truck was nice, the car was useful with the spacious back space. When used for long distance rides the car rated fair for me. My passangers was missing comfort especially now that we have a new baby in the family my car is not baby friendly. Overall my car rates fair but its definitely not a car for everyone. Take a test drive before you decide on this model, I know I should of.

A great vehicle. Has everything I was looking for in this size suv. Great for camping and light loads. The kids love the ride and space. I like the versatility and mpg. Overall, as a new owner I am very happy with this purchase.

It is all that I had hoped it would be and somewhat more. The "suicide" rear doors take a little getting accustomed to, but are beautiful in their design and integrity. What can you say about being "bullet proof", dependable and of great value ...its a Honda!

  • Rough Ride for passengers - 2003 Honda Element

Nothing but complaints from rear passengers. On windy days hard to handle steering. Only one arm rest for driver. Have to unbuckle to let out passengers in rear.

Very reliable vehicle...low maintenance and very versatile rear seats for hauling various things. Rear "suicide" doors are somewhat awkward in parking lots..city mileage 20mpg with 5 spd manual trans.

I chose the Element because I needed more room then a car but not too much. I have one son and we do a lot of camping, fishing, boating and I have a dog. Origionally I was looking for a small truck until I saw the Element. I LOVE it. All wheel drive is wonderful, good mileage, lots of room, lots of windows. A all around great vehicle. I highly reccommend it.

When I first saw this car, I initially hated its appearance. My husband was in love with it from the moment it came out, though. So, when I decided to trade in my old Honda Accord and get an SUV, he convinced me to try it. When I first saw the inside of this car, I fell in love with it. I chose the orange color EX model, and I am getting used to all of the attention I get with it. Other Element owners wave at me on the road, and other people usually stop to ask me how I like it. I love it, thats all I have to say.
