Model Overview:

Sold from 2003-'11, the Honda Element compact crossover SUV remains one of the most distinctive and practical vehicles on the road. Happy Element owners are often city dwellers who appreciate both its small size and generous 75-cubic-foot maximum cargo capacity. Another notable element about the Element is the ability of its access-style rear doors to pivot backward a full 90 degrees, providing unimpeded access to the roomy and creatively configurable rear seats.

A used Element of any vintage is easy to recommend thanks to its functional interior, smooth four-cylinder engine and carlike handling, not to mention Honda's reputation for reliability. That said, it's worthwhile to focus your search on 2007 and newer models, as they offer a bit more power and enhanced safety features.

  • So funky its cute, like a lil o turtle - 2003 Honda Element

I purchased my Element about a month ago, I had to have it. Its been great so far other then the mileage which everone is complainig about. I think the design is fantastic, funky, orginal, FUNCTIONAL, and just down right cool. Its like a modern day Woody. It drives much better then I imagined, more like a car then an SUV/truck. The pick up/power is great especially for an in-line four. I get lots of attention in it, mostly positive. In summary this vehicle is the most refreshing and original thing out there right now. Great job Honda, other auto designers have a thing or two to learn from you.

  • My best car....ever! - 2006 Honda Element

This is the best car I have ever owned! Its fun to drive, it has great space and its a Honda. If you want creature comforts, this car is not for you, but if you love something thats practical and reliable...this car is for you. Great sound system. The most roomy car I have ever been in. More roomy than the Hummer H2 and H3. Very easy to park anywhere.

  • Almost perfect - 2003 Honda Element

Over all I love it. My only negative is the windshield (Achiles heel). It gets cracked with every tiny pebble. I have a few minor suggestions but they do not detract from the overall utility of the vehicle. Seats up for field work or taking the dogs to the lake, quick vacuum and wipe, seats down and I drive my family to dinner. I still get amazed at how much can fit in there.

I just recently had my 2003 Orange Element stolen! But rest assured, I wont be shopping around for a replacement. Ill be heading back to the same dealership to buy a new one once my insurance company settles my claim (or they find my vehicle!). This truck is a blast to drive and has easily been the best auto I’ve ever owned. The only problems I experienced in the first 5000 miles (just had my first oil change when the crooks took it!) were some deep scratches caused by loading some heavy equipment in the back. I also hung an air freshener from the gear shifter that “rubbed” off some of the cool gray finish.

  • Great Protection in collison - 2004 Honda Element
    By -

There is good and bad about this vehicle. The bad being those great plastic floors( that I normally love) become very slick if cleaned with Armoral ( my local carwash armoralled the whole inside) My purse slid underneath the break pedal and I was unable to stop when nessecary. The good this is I didnt substain any injuries form colliding with a large truck at 45 miles an hour. Airbags deployed like expected and the vehicle absorbed all of the force that passengers would normally get.

  • Just what I needed - 2004 Honda Element
    By -

First time I saw one I thought it was the ugliest thing going. When I looked closer and did my research I couldnt wait to get in one. I ski, snowshoe, camp, fish and unfortunately have to commute everyday. This is about as near to perfect as a vehicle can get for my needs. ONLY SUV I have ever considered buying. Why? Because of its LEV engine and MPG. Its as good or better than most cars so no enviornmental guilt here. Compare and you will buy.

  • Incredably Versitile Vehicle - 2004 Honda Element
    By -

Most people think theyre ugly, but I think the styling is refreshing. Too many cars (and SUVs) look exactly the same. Its fun to drive, and has a ridiculous amount of cargo space for a vehicle its size. You get a lot of the perks of the giant suburban-assault SUVs without the enormous gas bill.

  • Best all around car - 2004 Honda Element

This car performs better than expected from onlookers. The theater style seating makes the ride enjoyable for everyone and it drives just like a car. Not bad on gas either. At 1.65 about 20 bucks will fill it.

  • Teen car - 2005 Honda Element

Great teen car has the safety feature we wanted and not too large to pack on to many friends. Plenty of leg room both in front and back.

  • BEST CAR EVER!!!!!!!!!! - 2003 Honda Element
    By -

This is my 3rd Honda, and Ive never been happier! I love everything about this car. I didnt get stuck at all this winter. I just took a 2500 mile round trip vacation and used my Element as my "tent". It is so comfortable even for a long haul, and spacious enough to live in for a week! I was planning on keeping it for 5 years or more, but am now planning on trading it in in 2 for the newest Element!!!!!!!!!
