Model Overview:

Sold from 2003-'11, the Honda Element compact crossover SUV remains one of the most distinctive and practical vehicles on the road. Happy Element owners are often city dwellers who appreciate both its small size and generous 75-cubic-foot maximum cargo capacity. Another notable element about the Element is the ability of its access-style rear doors to pivot backward a full 90 degrees, providing unimpeded access to the roomy and creatively configurable rear seats.

A used Element of any vintage is easy to recommend thanks to its functional interior, smooth four-cylinder engine and carlike handling, not to mention Honda's reputation for reliability. That said, it's worthwhile to focus your search on 2007 and newer models, as they offer a bit more power and enhanced safety features.

  • Its a truck, its a suv, its GREAT - 2004 Honda Element

I just got it! You either love it or hate it. I love it. It sucks gas! Thats the only thing negative I can say about it. They 21 mpg City, Dont think so. Its more like 18. Power is O.K. Drives nice, handles well and still fits in tight places. Its a cross between a truck, van, and a SUV. I heard it was designed for the younger generation, Im 40 and I think its awesome. Lots of room, easy to change the seats around. I use it for work and I dont have to worry about it getting banged up or stuff spilled in it. With its out side panels, waterproof seat covers & utility floors. If I could, I would have gotten the EX. Oh well, Next time.

LIKE THE EASE OF GETTING IN AND OUT. LOADS OF LEG ROOM IN THE REAR. LOVE THE RADIO AND CD SYSTEM. ONLY PROBLEM SO FAR IS THAT IT SEEMS IM ALWAYS GASING THE GUY UP. SOME TIME TWICES A WEEK FOR DRIVING AROUND IN NEW YORK CITY. I USE THE CAR TO GET TO AND FROM FROM DIFFERENT WORK SITES. MAYBE A LARGER GAS TANK NEXT TIME.

Gutsy, gorgeous, and gas efficient! I loved my 2003 Honda Element so much that I bought a second one in 2004 so my husband could have one as well. It is roomy, family friendly, rugged and wicked cool looking to boot. I bought one in green and one in blue, the only colours that offered matching interior trim. I also love the new sky light in back that comes out you can put in its place a screen! I also love the options, I got the running boards, roof rack, interior rubber mats, front seat covers and stearing wheel cover. It is very stylish!

I love my element. It handles great and the ride is smooth. I couldnt get up my driveway in the snow with my old car and the Element AWD kicks in and cruises right up.

Finding myself in the market for a vehicle that could comfortably seat four adult males and their gear for week long mountain bike trips, get good gas miliage and cost under $20,000-this was the winner. My other car is a Subaru Forester, which is a great car for my lifestle, but fitting American sized adults in the back seat is a joke. The Hondas exterior looks are still growing on me. It was this reason that caused me to put it at the bottom of my shopping list (behind the Toyota Matrix and others). One test drive quickly showed me that the Element, although shaped like a box on wheels, drove more like an Accord. It was clear that this was going to be a great escape car for me.

  • Never again - 2003 Honda Element

At first my wife and I loved this vehicle, then the problems started, tires are worn out and theres barely 12k on the car. It is very difficult to get the rear seats out without scratching your tailgate. The vehicle shifts very clumsily and the power is less than adequate. One the plus side the gas mileage is very good and the visibility excellent once you get used to the A-pillar in the front. All in all though we are considering getting rid of the car because of the issues that have arisen in one year.

Just what I wanted. A small SUV like tote that I can get a lot of stuff in if need be. And it even fits my golf clubs in the back if they are laid caddy corner. And when I wanted to buy 4 packaged of 4 cubic ft each of peat moss I just flipped up a seat and it all fit. Rides like a larger vehicle but easy to park. Also looked at RAV 4 but it is not as flexible in being able to tote things (back seats just flip down) and it rode rougher.

  • 68 with plenty of room to spare - 2003 Honda Element

My favorite thing is that it has a manual transmission. The car rides great in the snow and rain, the stereo Kicks and head room is no problem at all, Could use an inch or two of leg room. If you are thinking of getting a 4WD and want an easy to keep clen car this is for you.

  • Great for Todays Mom - 2003 Honda Element

I love this CAR/SUV. I am a mom but never wanted a station wagon or van. I was not ready to feel that old yet, then I saw the Element and had to have it. It drives like a car, but I live where it snows so it gets through the snow just great with its all wheel drive. Best of all with 2 young boys I can wipe the whole thing down or if it gets really bad I can hose it out. With this automobile you can be a mom and still feel like you are a kid!

I am delighted with my choice. Very versatile and utilitarian. The road noise is not as bad as I was told it would be. Very tolerable. The interior does not seem to be as "scratch resistant" as I expected, especially the dashboard area.
