Model Overview:

Sold from 2003-'11, the Honda Element compact crossover SUV remains one of the most distinctive and practical vehicles on the road. Happy Element owners are often city dwellers who appreciate both its small size and generous 75-cubic-foot maximum cargo capacity. Another notable element about the Element is the ability of its access-style rear doors to pivot backward a full 90 degrees, providing unimpeded access to the roomy and creatively configurable rear seats.

A used Element of any vintage is easy to recommend thanks to its functional interior, smooth four-cylinder engine and carlike handling, not to mention Honda's reputation for reliability. That said, it's worthwhile to focus your search on 2007 and newer models, as they offer a bit more power and enhanced safety features.

Im glad that I bought this vehicle. I truly enjoy driving it whether on the interstate or in town. Its easy to handle and gives a very nice feeling of spaciousness while seated in any of one of the four seats. Honda built this vehicle for the young but it is my understanding that the average age of buyers is 44 years. Im 65 years old; why should the kids have all the fun!

I test drove this car as a goof. I immediately loved the comfort and its ride. I was pleasantly surprised. I commute about 45 miles each way to work and this is pure fun to be in. I know the look is strange but this car is functional. Its not as spacious for cargo as our Odyssey but it makes up for it in many other areas. We had our first snow of substance last weekend. We had 18 inches. Before the plows came down our street, I tested the real time 4 wheel drive. It was spectacular. I was impressed. It did not spin or swerve. It grabbed the road and I felt in control. Excellent job, Honda. We have 4 Hondas (Odyssey, Accord, Civic) and this is my favorite. Id recommend it to all.

  • The Most Fun Car Ive Ever Driven - 2004 Honda Element

You either love or hate the Element. I happen to love it! Ive owned many cars before & this is the most fun Ive had. This vehicle is perfect for anyone who wants a car that is fun to own & unique (get used to being the center of attention whenever you pull up in your Element). At the same time, owning a Honda means youll have years of reliability.

  • Highly versatile, Honda quality - 2004 Honda Element

Im at the opposite extreme from Hondas target market (Gen Y) for the Element -- I bought this car as an eminently practical solution to multi- function "retirement car" needs in rural Puget Sound. It regularly surprises and pleases with its thoughful practicality, abundant capacity, eager performance, and unperturbed handling on less-than- ideal road conditions. After 4 months and 5K miles it has yet to reveal a flaw in build quality. The Elements design requires some getting used to. The "window sills" are unusually high, and visibility on the flanks is iffy the wide-opening clamshell doors make loading tough in tight parking stalls. Overall, its a winner!

I just bought a new left over 2004 Element last week. Needless to say I was curious how it would handle the Blizzard of 2005. I was out in it all day Saturday and while other cars were stuck, my E just kept crusing along. I took it into a state park with 6+ inches of plowed snow on some back roads and it never missed a beat. The versatility is great and the ride is better than my 02 Civic. Youll love those wash out floors!!

  • Intergenerational - 2003 Honda Element
    By -

Forget the "Y" generation, I am a "Baby Boomer" and the minute I saw this vehicle I knew it was for me. It turning the heads of every generation. Ive had several individuals over 60 approach me in the parking lot wanting to take a look at the car. The Element is comfortable and fun yet versatile.

This car is sooo much fun. We love the variety we have with the seat configurations. Its great for our two dogs because you can practically hose out the interior. The seat, dash and floor can be cleaned with a damp cloth. The only things we would change would be the center console could be higher and it could seat more than four passengers. Otherwise its a great, durable, fun SUV!
