Overview & Reviews
The 2004 Honda Element lineup gets an LX model to slot between the existing DX and EX models. New equipment on EX models includes keyless entry, a passenger-seat armrest as standard, and bungee-cord fasteners on the driver-side front and rear seat backs.
- Impressively versatile interior, optional all-wheel drive, smooth four-cylinder engine, styled as if out of a Japanese animation movie.
- Only seats four, clamshell doors hinder entry/exit for rear-seat passengers.

Avoid this SUV like the plague! - 2004 Honda Element
By buffalogirl - November 24 - 2:00 amVery reliable driving always starts even when its -20. Not too aerodynamic because of boxy shape, so when youre driving in high wind, hard to control & you feel it! Rough riding, only fits 4 people because of cup holders between 2 back bucket seats. Terrible MPG we only got about 20m., hwy. Drivers side airbag deployed while it was parked no collision or impact, apparently a common problem in Elements that Honda wont fix! Very costly! Seat also are already splitting at seams on Drivers side. On our 3rd windshield.

Poor customer service/backseat danger - 2004 Honda Element
By Gwendolyn - July 20 - 8:25 amWrote Honda that backseats do not lock, will not take child car seats, very dangerous, was like this when we bought it but did not know as we did not use the back seats until our granddaughter was born 2rs ago when we tried to install her car seat, discovered locks do not lock, never did since purchase. Local dealer said cost would be over $700. Wrote national Honda. Got uncaring follow-up phone call, they hung up when I explained this was NOT about a part under warranty needing repair, but a life threatening problem existing since purchase. We cannot take passengers/children in backseats ever--a huge flaw. But worse was lack of concern by Honda. Probably my last Honda. Safety matters most.

By yoda2 - September 27 - 2:00 amafter owning the car for a year i have found that it has way too many rattles and squeeks. the dealership has a very hard time fixing them. i have never been rattle or squeek free!!! honda needs to go back to the drawing board and take a good hard look at the problems in the dash area

The Element needs restructoring - 2004 Honda Element
By ROHONDA ARMONY - September 14 - 2:00 amstylish, but in the end i have found lousy brake system, poor gas mileage and the suspension system does not take bumps well. Tires on it are not responsive to the poor Pennysylvania roads. would not buy this car again or recommend it to be bought. Lousy performance for the money.

Rare manual transmission EX 4WD - 2004 Honda Element
By Hiroshi - November 13 - 10:00 amHard to find 4WD with manual transmission, Fiji Blue. Shopped around but no discount. Finding the actual vehicle was tough. Highly critisized rear access door is less of a concern as long as you recognize its not a four door vehicle (think of double cab pick up truck).
