This Year's Model Updates:

The big news this year is the return of the Civic Si. Featuring an exclusive two-door hatchback body style, the new Si has a 160-horsepower engine. All 2002 Honda Civic sedans and coupes feature a revised steering box for improved driving feel, added sound insulation and slightly tweaked suspension tuning. There are also some smattering of interior storage and comfort upgrades this year.

Pros:
  • Fuel efficient and environmentally friendly engines, roomy interior, reputation for durability, impressive crash-test scores.
Cons:
  • Antilock brakes not available on DX or LX.

  • Dont believe the Hype - 2002 Honda Civic

The auto mags all bash this great car for not having 200hp and 17" summer rubber, but for real world city commuting this is one of best cars you could buy. Unlike many Hondas the Si engine is very flexible. You can round slow corners in 3rd gear and pull right up to speed with no fuss. The short gearing means that on the highway you can leave the car in 5th and still get great passing power. The engine is also willing to pull hard right up and through the 6875rpm redline for those times you are able to. In the handling department the Si remains very entertaining at 7 to 8/10ths. Turn in is sharp and the understeer limit is high enough to keep it fun in the twistys.

I have had no major problems with my civic since I have owned it. I wish the front was more roomier, but other than that, great car!

I love my car. Its fun to drive, fun to cruise in on. I have done a lot of custom work to the car & have found it quite easy to work with. I dont care for the transmission. It likes to grind into 2nd gear on occasion. The garages can not figure it out.

  • Good pick up, great gas milage - 2002 Honda Civic

the interior it seems to be made of very nice quality and I expect it to last. I purchased the EX because of the sunroof, better engine and 15 inch wheels. The stereo isent all its cracked up to be. They say its premium although, its stock... I suppose I shouldnt expect wonders, but at 3/4s volume it shouldnt crackle on BASS. Sunroof works perfect, its fast to. 15 inch wheels, are not even real rims, they are just hub caps.. a bit dissapointing until I saw my monthly payments. My stereo is broken, I may one in a million to recieve this problems as the dealership had never heard of it. The clock resets everytime I turn off the car

  • Probably the best compact car - 2002 Honda Civic

No problems with this car. Drives well and one of the most spacious interiors in a compact car. It handles well both in the city and on highway. Excelent turning and decent hill climbing. The seats are comportable and there is enough head and feet room both in front and in the back. I like the new design (looks a little bit like the VW passat). The trunk is very large for such a small car. I was able to squeeze in my daughters crib without opening the original box. Lowest cost of ownership.

  • Civic - simple economy car - 2002 Honda Civic

My 3 year lease on the Civic is up in a month and Im glad that Im returning it. I havent had any big problems with it (only replaced ABS sensor under warranty @ 15K miles), so its been a reliable car. Its definitely not a bad car, but I think there are others that are better (replacing it with a Subaru, which is AWD, more powerful, quieter, better handling, and more fun to drive). I like the fuel economy, consistently get around 30-35MPG (Ill miss that with the Subaru). Like when the VTEC activates in the higher RPM range (especially 2nd and 3rd gears), gives you a little push. An advice to anyone interested in the Civic: look at Toyota Corolla, Matrix, and Mazda3 before purchasing.

I got a civic because my previous car was an unrestored 64 ford mustang (that needed a lot of work) and I just wanted a car I didnt have to worry if it was going to overheat or use a tank a day. I go out of town often with my civic and even with 60000 it still gets almost 400 miles to the tank.

  • Exceeded Expectations - 2002 Honda Civic

Leased car due to special promotional deal...have driven it from KS to Los Angeles 2 times now and was impressed with the mileage, comfort and trip performance on all types of driving conditions and roads, mountains, etc..great car..no problems at all in the 3 yrs weve had it...ride is a little stiff, but thats just a Honda..the residual value is so cheap, we are purchasing it outright when the lease expires next month!! Great car.

  • My Civic makes me happy - 2002 Honda Civic

A good car, no doubt. I did my research before buying and paid off. Except for one time when the car sort of fluked (I think it was Minnesotas harsh cold winter and snow), it runs smoothly as the day it was new. One thing Im not sure about: I feel I dont get the mileage that other Civic drivers get. Winter mi/gal runs at about 25, and in the Spring/Summer is on the 32-36 range. Still, Im planning on getting another Civic when I change this.

  • Certainly a Honda - 2002 Honda Civic

Another in a long line of reliable Hondas. Cant be the low cost of ownership. Get your oil changes and no problems. Only problem is a drivers side window quirk. Cold wet weather and it requires some help closing.
