This Year's Model Updates:

The big news this year is the return of the Civic Si. Featuring an exclusive two-door hatchback body style, the new Si has a 160-horsepower engine. All 2002 Honda Civic sedans and coupes feature a revised steering box for improved driving feel, added sound insulation and slightly tweaked suspension tuning. There are also some smattering of interior storage and comfort upgrades this year.

Pros:
  • Fuel efficient and environmentally friendly engines, roomy interior, reputation for durability, impressive crash-test scores.
Cons:
  • Antilock brakes not available on DX or LX.

  • Good Car - 2002 Honda Civic

This is a great little car. Gets great gas mileage and and keep up in traffic. And Civics have a reputaion of being very reliable. I do wish that it had a little more power and handled a little better in the turns but this car is not a sports car. I just sometimes wish it were. I would have gotten an RSX if i could afford it at the time because I want a little more performance out of my daily commute

  • amazing fuel economy - 2002 Honda Civic

i have the 5 spd...this car has been great... it has 55,000 miles on it... and i have not touched it except for oil changes. i would recommend this car to anyone who is looking for a car that is good on fuel, $30 Canadian = 650 kms the gears are too long ... i can hit 65 mph in second gear at redline

  • Civic Si (K20a3) - 2002 Honda Civic

People may bash it for its styling, but over all the civic si is a great car. Its very comfortable, has a very good sound system, does great gas mileage (if you drive it nice) and it was a extremely powerful heater! Mine is the "mustard" gold color and man does it turn some heads. People think that the "Dash Shifter" is ridiculous but it is honestly very comfortable to use when driving. Its got more than enough power for you to have fun with. Although it doesnt have "True Vtec" its i-vtec design is very good giving the car good power in all gears. No need to down-shift from 5th on the highway to pass someone, it still pulls like a train giving you easily enough power to pass something.

  • good car for the money - 2002 Honda Civic

This car is a perfect station car. Good fuel , good reliability, good comfort. The one bad thing is I do not feel safe in this car , because it is so small.I know it got great crash tests but I still dont feel safe.

  • Miss the Accord - 2002 Honda Civic

Use to have 00 Accord SE. but then got an civic LX after parents divorced. Weve had over five Hondas, so we knew this was a good decision. But now a year and a half later, my feelings have gone downhill for the Civic. The performance is bad, paint is chipping, maint button comes on constantly, etc. Id defintely love to have the 00 Accord back. Id recommend the 00 Civic instead.

  • Somewhat Disappointed - 2002 Honda Civic

Bought the car used with 34000 miles for 19 year old son. Gas mileage is big disappointment and the timing of the engine shifting seems to be off. Engine is noisy also. Tried to get an extra key made. Cost in excess of $100 because of computer chip in key cover (security feature). Also twice there has been a power interuption and had to get code from dealer to reset radio (another security feature). Battery died and could not shift car out of park to push out of garage. Will not buy another Honda because of all the security features that can be an real inconvenience to owner.

  • So far so good - 2002 Honda Civic

It is noisy, and the interior could be upgraded. However I like driving it, get a lot of compliments on it, and havent had to make any repairs except oil change and two new tires. I added new stereo, alarm, remote start and tinted windows which adds nice extras. I plan on getting chrome exhaust, wider high performance tires and maybe stiffer suspension down the road. If you add what you want to this car and the reliability is there what more could you ask

  • Decent Car - 2002 Honda Civic

I bought this car back in 02 Since then i have put about 102k miles on it. The car has been very reliable. However, the car is lacking in the performance department with only 126hp. The ride is also a little bumppy. Replaced the stock stereo system as soon as I bought it. Brakes lock up way to much and this car has ABS so i dont know the reason for that one. Car gets good gas mileage. Interior is breaking down a lot (faded, cracking, tears, etc.) I love the size of the back very roomy for a coupe. The moonroof is great on sunny days. Perfect car for roadtrips. Most reliable car ever!!!

  • Good but not up to Honda standards - 2002 Honda Civic

Very good vehicle over all. We were disappointed in a few things and annoyed at a few others. Weve owned other Hondas before and this one isnt up to Honda standards.

  • review for a 2000 vs 2002 EX sedan - 2002 Honda Civic
    By -

I am writing this review for a 2000 because I think the 2002 is way-worse. Honda modified the 2001/2002 model and cheapened the components (like replacing the double-wishbone suspension with cheap regulal one). So, if you want good deal, look for a low- mileage 2000 model. It is probably the most reliable Civic ever made.
