This Year's Model Updates:

The big news this year is the return of the Civic Si. Featuring an exclusive two-door hatchback body style, the new Si has a 160-horsepower engine. All 2002 Honda Civic sedans and coupes feature a revised steering box for improved driving feel, added sound insulation and slightly tweaked suspension tuning. There are also some smattering of interior storage and comfort upgrades this year.

Pros:
  • Fuel efficient and environmentally friendly engines, roomy interior, reputation for durability, impressive crash-test scores.
Cons:
  • Antilock brakes not available on DX or LX.

  • Wanted a Civic EX came out with Si ! - 2002 Honda Civic

I went in to purchase a Honda EX, but with low financing rate and 2000$ off I purchased the Civic Si! Its good on gas, environmentally friendly, fast, reliable and had a decent stereo system.

Im disapointed. I like the roomy interior and the dash display, but I find myself bouncing and clunking around too much on standard roads, listening to the rev of the engine too much and wishing for some of the Corolla and Sentra perks(CD player, more horsepower, a place for my change) I thought would seem less important once I started driving the more expensive Civic. Reliability seems lacking too because less than one week after purchase I have to take my car into the dealer because Im having map light problems. I hope this car retains its value because Ill be trading it in sooner than the 10-12 years I thought I would hold onto it for.

Bought it for $15,400 ( excluded taxes & license ). The seat is comfortable, sporty ! The car is fun to drive, city or highway. Its unique exterior design turned alot of heads. No need for premium gas ! Highly recommended !

I sold my Accord in 2002 and got the new Civic. I wanted an economical and reliable commuting car for less money than another Accord. The Civic deliveres on that, but the comfort of my 1-hr (2x daily) commute has suffered a great deal. Within 1st 6 mos of ownership, the annoying sqeaks in the dash, doors and pillars started to creep up. Now they are a daily occurance. I tried everything, but they keep coming back. Too much road noise in the cabin makes the already- weak audio system even less enjoyable. Seats are not supportive for long commutes. I would rather own a solid and comfortable sedan with worse gas mileage.

i have an acura 94 with 180K and a new civic(my fifth honda) and wouldnt even think about owning anything but a honda.as the ford focus racks up safety recalls(11 more-than any car in the last 30 years),VWs ignition coils fail- 02 and 03, and GM buys 50,000 honda V6 engines, all others try to keep up and Honda leaves the pack behind. The only car maker honda can see over its shoulder off in the distance is Toyota= no motorcycle market not to mention no ATVs,Lawnmowers, generators, snowblowers. ...etc...that is why they have to give deep discounts to sell cars.

  • Wheres the storage? - 2002 Honda Civic

I was happy to have the Si back after a 7 year absence. Bought it almost sight unseen. Great performance. No shimmy in high winds and lots of power. No place to put anything, though. No coin box, no ashtray, power outlet doesnt take lighter. Seats cause acute bun-ache after long trips.

  • I Love This Car!!! - 2002 Honda Civic

I was in the market for a new car because I questioned the reliability of my 2000 Alero which had been in the shop three times and was close to running out its warranty. I wanted something that was reliable with good gas mileage...first name that came to mind? Of course Honda. Since I cant afford the Accord I looked at the Civic EX. The Civic delivers outstanding performance...its got quite a bit of zip for a 4 banger...and it handles much better than the Alero ever did, even when it was new. The dealer was wonderful...even threw in the floormats for free. If you want a good car, but this one.

I have just bought the Honda Civic LX. What a wonderful vehicle. It handles so nice, and looks great too!!! I had a Ford and it is nice to know I wont be putting thousands of dollars into repairs like I had been.

I have had my 4 door 5 speed for a short while. I enjoy it. I have driven quite a few 5 speed Hondas. Compared to the old 1.6 L Civics, this engine actually has decent torque between 1500RPM-2500RPM (even compared to a VTEC Del Sol). Good back seat spacing, big trunk. Its not easy to fill up all the space.

  • Awesome car - 2002 Honda Civic

Ive driven this car back and forth to work 40 miles each way, 5 days a week, for the last 1 yr+. Pros: Awesome mileage (AVERAGE = 38) for any car, nevermind an Automatic!!!, tight suspension (contrary to what Ive read) in that I can hug a well-rounded 90 degree turn at 40 mph, car exudes quality (kicks ass on any of the 3 Fords and 2 Toyotas Ive had). Cons: Stereo sound just so-so (needs high quality bass-response for the EX), road noise (a bit loud for my taste), no center arm rest (the one that it comes with is a joke!)
