Overview & Reviews
Honda redesigns its cars and trucks every four to five years, whether they need it or not. For 2001, it's the Honda Civic's turn. Larger inside and out, with more powerful engines but a less sophisticated suspension, coupes and sedans return in familiar DX, LX and EX trims, while HX models come with two doors only. The GX Sedan is powered by natural gas. Unfortunately, the hatchback dies just when Americans are once again figuring out how useful they can be, and the sporty Si goes on hiatus for a year or two.
- Fuel-efficient and environmentally friendly engines, reputation for durability, neato CVT transmission, likely to retain a healthy chunk of original value, impressive crash-test scores.
- Si goes bye-bye, gotta get the EX or GX for ABS, vanilla-flavored sedan styling.

Excellent economy car - 2001 Honda Civic
By Luc - April 6 - 10:00 amMy second Honda. Never had any major problems. The only problem my dealer discovered with my 2001 model was a leaky shock absorber in the front which was replaced under warranty and a tendency for the transmission to jump out of the second gear which as apparently addressed by my dealer with an improvement kit but is still happening from time to time. Great on gas milleage.

love my civic - 2001 Honda Civic
By chris g - March 19 - 10:00 amMy civic is excellent in many ways except for two things. It does not handle well in the snow because its so light. It could be made more comfortable, a softer seat with a little better lower back support would be great. Otherwise it is very ergonomically laid out.

car stalls constantly - 2001 Honda Civic
By goody2shoe1 - January 31 - 10:00 amIve had my car for less than 2 years and its been fixed 6 times. Ive had 2 new transmissions, a new computer thing, a new starter, they fixed the idle and have had a new alarm computer and the car still does not work! It stalls whenever it is put in to gear even though it is an automatic! I just filed for the lemon law so Hopefully i wont have to put up with this stupid car much longer. also it dongs very easily.

Not as well built - 2001 Honda Civic
By pcwizard - January 13 - 10:00 amI have had a few Hondas and now have 2. This 2001 Civic has more wind noise than any other. The doors dont fit as well as in the past so more wind noise is generated. The dealer has not been able to do anything in all the times Ive returned it.

Poor Build Quality of 01 Civic - 2001 Honda Civic
By TeTea - December 13 - 10:00 amI was very disappointed with the EX 2001 Civic model. Since Ive owned the car Ive had soo many quirky things go wrong on the car. My window motor doesnt work properly, the consol light is tempermental. Recently my trunk and gas tank release lever decided to not work anymore. Forget about the paint, just brush against the car and it will chip. Also, not long after I purchased the car, I noticed rust spots on the hood of my car.

A car with attitude - 2001 Honda Civic
By LMad - December 5 - 10:00 amThe 2001 Civic coupe is a reliable car that is fun and somewhat sporty. It is sensible but still has its attitude.

Reliability and dependability - 2001 Honda Civic
By pokeweed - November 21 - 10:00 amThe high gas mileage (35-40 mostly highway) is the main reason I bought this Civic LX, also because of safety crash tests. This years ridiculously high gas prices make me laugh at Expeditions and other big SUVs. Reliability has been perfect, replacing only a few filters, at 99000 miles. I still have original brake pads! Ill need a new timing belt soon.

The unkillable honda - 2001 Honda Civic
By Chris - October 28 - 4:41 amI bought this car just to get me through college thinking I would get something better once I got a decent job. I have said decent job but the car is hard to give up. I have been in 2 accidents with it both I was fine after and the car was running. Its never had any major repairs aside from a radiator after one accident. Fun to drive easy to upgrade. Compared to the 2002 corolla and 2006 acura RL I drove before the Civic by far was the best vehicle
