  • Love This SUV - 1999 Honda CR-V

I love my CR-V. Going on 10 years old now and have had no major issues with it. Have only replaced battery and tires. Thats it. Have driven in 12 inches of unploughed snow with no problem. I dont even want to trade it in and would keep it even longer but 10 years old, so its time, especially with the tax incentives on new purchases.

Bought our CR-V new in 1999. 10 years later and 145,000 miles on it the thing still runs like a top. The only repairs we have done, outside of new tires, a battery, & routine maintenance, are the front brakes at 65,000 miles and the electronic door lock relay at 72,000 miles. Everything else is original. (Yes, even the timing belt and the muffler!) Looking forward to 200,000 miles +! Very little body rust even after 10 Vermont winters and salted roads.

  • Fabulous reliable car, love it - 1999 Honda CR-V

We have had this car for almost ten years and have only replaced the battery and the tires. We have more than 250 000 km on the car, we take it back and forth to the cottage. We have towed things behind it, moved stuff in it. We have utilized this vehicle to its full capacity and it has given us no aggravations or problems. We would not hesitate to buy it again.

  • Best snow car I have ever owned - 1999 Honda CR-V

I live in Colorado and I have a 60 mile commute, so I need a car that can handle snow and a car that Im not afraid to put a lot of miles on. Ive had this car for 3 years and I love it. Im at 255,000 miles and I expect to get another 100,000 out of this car based on how it has treated me so far. MINOR CONS: It is noisy and my tall husband (62") cant get the seat back far enough for comfort, and the cup holders are shallow so coffee mugs have a tendency to fall out but other than those issues it is a great car. Its a nice size, wonderful visibility, and ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL IN THE SNOW, uphill or down.

  • Practical, bulletproof - 1999 Honda CR-V
    By -

A very practical family car if you dont need to carry more than 4. Lots of cargo capacity, though long items require some creativity. All maintenance has been preventative and at reasonable cost - its never left me stranded. No problems at all in snow - Ive driven in 6-8" depths without an issue. Performance is nearly nonexistent with just the driver and decreases rapidly with payload. High-speed cornering fraught with uncertainty as one might expect with skinny tires and a high center of gravity. I get a very consistent 25 mpg with a 70% highway/30% city mix at 127K miles.

  • Almost perfect - 1999 Honda CR-V
    By -

Weve owned ours from new in 99 and echo what many have said. Were coming up on 300,000 km on little more than gas, oil, and tires. Still have original clutch and have had only 1 (yes!) brake job. Exhaust original as well. 2 recalls (ignition switch and rear differential fluid). This car has been fabulous. There are some complaints, however. The fan and a/c is weak for the interior volume (although still works as if new). The seats are the worst part of the car - seat cushion too short and hard. Its underpowered for its size and noisy on the highway owing to high revs. Needs a sixth gear. I know it seems like a lot of complaints but, actually, its a great car. Would buy again!

  • I Love My CRV! - 1999 Honda CR-V
    By -

I bought my CRV brand new in 1999. It has great gas mileage, low maintenance costs and has been extremely reliable. I havent even run out of gas! The only things I have done to it are regular maintenance items, oil, tires, belts etc. Just had to put part of new muffler on this week. I live in a snowy city and the salt finally ate through. And I didnt have to replace the battery until last year. I would love to get another newer model but they are too expensive for me now. I will definitely get another Honda. Itll be my third! I highly recommend them.

  • So Cute! - 1999 Honda CR-V

I gaze out of the window at it all the time, it is such a cute car. It has a lot of get up and go and the A/C is so much better then my Escape was. The gas mileage is better than my 07 Escape Hybrid. I havent gone on long trips or up any mountains, but for getting from here to there, it is absolutely perfect and the 99 styling isnt outdated and still looks like a fairly new car. Just discovered the picnic table. So cool. I live in the Hippie community of Ocean Beach, Ca, and I think this care has finally found its permanent home with me.

I bought this CR-V with 41,000 miles on it, and now have 156,000 on it. Change oil at 3000 miles always with a Honda dealer. Have had 2 minor brake jobs, set of struts, 1 radiator, 1 back-up light, timing belt with belts and water pump (at same time) these were not generic. My son is a cert. mech. wiper blades 2 times,2 tune ups, 3 sets of tires. Only lasting problem is in the hot Texas summers my auto tranny does not want to shift at certain times, it kinda hangs in gear until I give it more gas. I take it in and have the tranny oil changed (3 qt.) 3 times a year, thats a lot cheaper than an AT overhaul or new tranny. Gas mileage never less than 24 to 25 tollway/city.

  • First SUV, recommended - 1999 Honda CR-V

My husband & I were looking for an SUV that wasnt to expensive because I just paid off my Honda Civic, & needed something bigger. We found this CR-V @ Salsbury Dodge Used Cars, (my husband works for them), & we decided to go look @ it on the lot & feel in love with it, so we traded in the civic & bought the CR-V. Ive had a few problems with it -radiator & tires. But where I work, @ a building supply store, there are nails or screws that I get in the tires. I wish I could find some tires that dont go flat - lol!!
