  • 322,000 on chassis 2nd eng&3rd tranny - 1992 Geo Metro
    By -

I love my Metro I have had it 12 years I put 222,000 miles on it since i bought it.I installed a motorcycle muffler and it sounds and performs great. I drive 88 miles a day.It is so easy to work on changing the eng or tranny in a few hours. It to me is both pricelss and worthless at the same time. I would not sell it for $4000 I am planning on seeing 1,000,000 miles. I laugh at the $4.00 gas and big SUVs

  • No care that is more reliable - 1996 Geo Metro

I bought this car brand new in 96, I drove this car 45 miles to work and back every day for years. The car logged over 260,000 miles before I gave it to my son. I even rolled the car on its side in a ditch and never had to do any major repaors other than body work. The engine and trans worked like they did they day I bought even after 260,000 miles. Amazing, great gas milage, great reliabilty, great car. If you can find one of these cars that have been taken care of I would recomend it.

  • Love it!!!!!!! - 1994 Geo Metro

This little geo was handed down to me from my parents who bought it new in 94. this car is very reliable as long as you keep up on the maintenance. Its on it 3rd engine, 1st one the oil drain plug didnt get screwed all the way in and feel out dumping all the oil, 2nd one was a used engine and wasnt good to start with, and now the 3rd is running good and has been for over 60,000 miles. engines are very tough for their weight (you can pick up the whole thing by yourself). and if you want more power just search for swift performance as its really a Suzuki Swift.

  • gas prices bad but not with this car - 1994 Geo Metro

This car is a great car if you want to get good gas mileage. Mine is a 3 speed automatic and is very easy to work on. If you dont know much about cars this is a good learning tool. pros: great heater, it heats up fast/ good gas mileage/can go on the freeway and get up to speed fast enough. Cons: makes a lot of noise due to lack of insulation/cheap interior/oil leaks/battery drainage/rust in the crevasses of the car/not a very safe car as far as getting hit by another vehicle.

  • Best car Ive ever owned - 1992 Geo Metro
    By -

I bought my Geo Metro new in Oct. 1991 as a 1992 model. I have a little over 208,000 miles on it, and it has never been overhauled and does not use any oil between changes at 3000 miles. The only repairs needed since purchase is the starter at 148,000 miles, and the front struts at Sears at about 100,000 mi with a lifetime warranty, and a replacement (no charge) at 201,000 mi. I still get average 33 mpg in town, and 47 mpg on a trip. Ive replaced front wheel brakes myself twice (about $20.00). I will never sell or trade this car and I love driving it better than my new Nissan Altima, and I do drive it more. My Geo is a 5 speed manual. I replace the timing belt myself about every 60K miles.

  • Little Beast - 1993 Geo Metro

Honestly, this is the most powerful stock car I have seen yet. People laugh at them, but they are full of guts. After some slight modifications, I could easily take many other stock vehicles on a straight stretch. With my 17" low profile tires, it handled turns very well at high rates of speed. I love cars such as this that are very fast and powerful, yet get great gas mileage. I never had any problems with it, regular oil changes and 1 tie rod end was replaced. It is a very reliable car.

  • A good car - 1994 Geo Metro

This was an excellent car that rarely gave me any trouble and was reasonably easy and cheap to repair. The only reason why I traded it in was that it was getting to that age where it needed a lot of maintenance. But for many, many years, it never gave me any trouble whatsoever. The gas mileage was better than some hybrid cars. There were no real issues with this car except that it didnt come with any airbags.

I bought my first Geo used in 1998. Still on the road today 2008 120,000 miles, Of course the car is made cheap, door latches need to be replaced. The car broke the orignal timing belt in 2007. It is not an interference engine, didnt eat the valves. Very happy.
