This Year's Model Updates:

Despite numerous 2003 upgrades, there's not much different on the outside other than optional multifunction mirrors and new machined aluminum wheels for SLT models. Inside, you'll find tri-zone climate controls, an enhanced driver-information center and a redesigned center console and instrument panel. Satellite steering wheel controls are now optional (standard on Denali models) as are second-row captain's chairs. New entertainment options include a Bose audio system, as well as XM Satellite Radio and a DVD-based entertainment system. For increased safety, there are a standard front-passenger sensing system, three-point belts for all second-row passengers, adjustable pedals and an available StabiliTrak stability control system. GMC also upgraded the braking system for better pedal feel and performance and retuned the Autotrac four-wheel-drive system for better efficiency and less binding at low speeds. Finally, Yukons sold in California are fitted with a new catalytic converter that earns the truck ULEV certification.

Pros:
  • Strong engines, roomy and versatile interior, rugged chassis, numerous available amenities.
Cons:
  • Spotty build quality, interior materials could be better.

  • Excellent truck - 2003 GMC Yukon

Its the best! The gas mileage leaves something to be desired, but overall the Yukon is tops. A must have.

  • Nice Truck, poor service dept. - 2003 GMC Yukon
    By -

The truck is very comfortable and has loads of room with the third row seats removed. I get plenty of compliments on the styling. The interior has bit too much hard plastic, although it does not scratch easily. My Civic interior looks and feels better. Great power seats. OnStar works like they advertise on lock outs. Service starts friendly until you point out that the problem wasnt fixed. Why do they require that you yell first before they (Indio, CA GMC/Buik/Pontiac) take any action. The service mangager was rude but the mechanic took the time to find a rattle and correct it.

  • A great SUV! - 2003 GMC Yukon

I opted for a 4WD SLE with the bi-fuel 5.3L 8cyl engine. I can proudly proclaim this to be the best SUV Ive driven & thus far Ive encountered no problems whatsoever. The automatic 4WD is especially useful in Alaska where road conditions can quickly change in a matter of a few seconds as well as a few feet. The buying experience with my GM dealer was first-rate with no high pressure sales tactics, mind games, etc. As with all new cars, fuel economy improves as time progresses.

  • Smoke & Mirrors - 2003 GMC Yukon

Overall its just an average ride. I wonder why it cost $46,000? It certainly has all the whistle & bells, but nothing unique. The stereo is ok but not great, maybe one step above the radio that was in my 1967 Chevy. A lot of road noise.

  • Hansome SUV - but dissapointed - 2003 GMC Yukon
    By -

Comfortable, peppy, roomy, turns heads - it was everything I was looking for - sounded perfect. WRONG its the biggest lemon I have ever purchased - dealership cant find whats wrong - electical issues to computer malfunctions - has been replaced, and replaced and replaced - no fix in site. It looks pretty sitting in thier garage.

  • GMC Dealerships are the worst - 2003 GMC Yukon
    By -

My only comment is that you better hope you get one with 0 problems because the dealerships are the worst. I have a Yukon XL and a GMC Sierra and I like the design and power of both vehicles for towing/etc. But, every time something has gone wrong, the dealer cant or wont fix it without a fight. I have honestly bought my last GM car after a lifetime of owning them.

I have had a great experience with my vehicle. I enjoy driving it and would recommend it to anyone. I think that you can buy the upscale SLT instead on the Denali and save yourself alot of money. The rear A/C is a bit loud, but overall this is a great buy.

  • Hunk O Junk - 2003 GMC Yukon
    By -

Name it it has gone wrong - car has 3,000 miles on it and in the shop about 3,000 hours. Great looking SUV - great power - typical substandard GM quality. Transmission gone, computer went out twice, mount brackets fell off

  • Great SUV for the whole family - 2003 GMC Yukon
    By -

Excellent ride coupled with large interior space makes this a pleasure to drive on long trips. In town the acceleration provided by the 6.0L Vortec engine come in very handy when merging into Atlanta traffic. This vehicle provides great value for the money as compared with all other large SUVs on the market.

overall a fabulous vehicle. a true highway cruiser. love the climate control. AC somewhat noisy. High- pitched engine noise with acceleration but can put up with that (told that was par for the course with this vehicle). incredible looks. well worth the price - $10,000 cheaper than the sequoia. 3rd row seet is a little cramped.
