This Year's Model Updates:

Despite numerous 2003 upgrades, there's not much different on the outside other than optional multifunction mirrors and new machined aluminum wheels for SLT models. Inside, you'll find tri-zone climate controls, an enhanced driver-information center and a redesigned center console and instrument panel. Satellite steering wheel controls are now optional (standard on Denali models) as are second-row captain's chairs. New entertainment options include a Bose audio system, as well as XM Satellite Radio and a DVD-based entertainment system. For increased safety, there are a standard front-passenger sensing system, three-point belts for all second-row passengers, adjustable pedals and an available StabiliTrak stability control system. GMC also upgraded the braking system for better pedal feel and performance and retuned the Autotrac four-wheel-drive system for better efficiency and less binding at low speeds. Finally, Yukons sold in California are fitted with a new catalytic converter that earns the truck ULEV certification.

Pros:
  • Strong engines, roomy and versatile interior, rugged chassis, numerous available amenities.
Cons:
  • Spotty build quality, interior materials could be better.

Yukon is extremely nice. Bose system and DVD entertainment are definitely worth it for the kids. My only complaint is gas mileage but it is still higher than I would have guessed. Anywhere from 15-20 mpg.

My 03 Yukon has been in the shop 3x in 4 months of ownership- Failed Emission sensor, Leaking ALB speed sensors and faulty Climate Control. When my Yukon is NOT in the shop its a pleasure to drive. Im very disappointed with the BUILD QUALITY, as it appears to be very poor. The hassle factor has been high as the dealer must order parts to repair the SUV. I will likely go back to a Lexus or Toyota if this pattern continues. Im looking into the lemon laws in California. Think twice about buying a GMC. You get what you pay for (ie. go with Toyota or Lexus)

  • After 2 Expeditions - 2003 GMC Yukon

we were converted. Went to look at the latest Eddie Bauer Expedition and felt there was something missing, very plain. However The GMC to load up is more expensive but what a car and far more comfortable. Shame you have to get the 1SD package to get memory seats, which also bumps it up to a 5.3 when the 4.8 was way powerful enough. Get the 2nd row captains chairs they are awesome.

  • Luxury and Comfort - 2003 GMC Yukon

Just traded 2002 for 2003. More goodies - XM satellite, nav system, dual climate controls, 2nd row buckets (as comfy as front row), aux rear climate controls (now available WITH sunroof). Great ride, excellent performance - not quite as much immediate acceleration from 40 - 50 mph as a 2 wheel drive (due to the AWD). GM should improve the interior in terms of making it look more luxurious. Also should do something to separate it more from the Tahoe. Biggest complaint (and about the only one) is gas mileage - 12/16 is BAD. GM should figure out a way to get the DVD/TV included WITH the sunroof instead of either/or.

Overall a great truck. No real complaints just that the interior is in very bad need of an update. Needs more lux!!!

Great SUV, this is my 3rd one over the years and they just keep getting better. 2003 is a very fine year with super interior and performance.

DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR I DONT THINK YOU CAN GET A BETTER SUV. YOU CAN TELL THERE HORSES UNDER THE HOOD. AND NO NEED TO WORRY ABOUT SPINNING YOUR TIRES IN A PINCH THE ALL WHEEL DRIVE TAKES THAT SCARE AWAY. IT WAS NICE GETTING A VEHICLE THAT HAD EVERYTHING ALREADY. YOU DONT HAVE UPGRADE ANYTHING,NOT EVEN THE STEREO. THE BOSE WITH SUBWOOFER DOSE THE TRICK. THIS VECHILE HAS WAY TOO MANY FEATURES TO LIST. MY FAMILY LOVES THE HEATED SEATS AND TV SCREENS. GOOD JOB GMC.

  • Takes you back in time! - 2003 GMC Yukon

It makes you feel like you are driving a GM product from the 70s or 80s - JUNK! Big regret buying it - its the right size, pep, looks, ride, etc - but GM cant build a car that last more that a week. Its been in the shop more than I have driven it. Bad choice on my part - shame on GM. Customer Service makes you feel good on the phone - but they dont do anything about the issue. Take it in for service? HA! what a joke - I spent $50,000 on a vehicle and am treated like I purchased it out of the bargain corral! GM needs to learn how to service and stand behind thier products.

The Yukon is such a nice, plush vehicle. It really is fun to drive and extremely comfortable. Lots of power and the interior is nice as well. The interior could use more accents such as wood trim or aluminum, but it still blows away the competition in terms of class and space.
