GMC SAFARI - 1995 GMC Safari
By CGOSSETT - February 5 - 2:00 amBought new in January 1996. Have had no major problems. Front brakes have been replaced twice. Plastic door handle on passenger side broke inside the door...major hassle to get to and fix but not a major expense if you have a friend that is a mechanic and has the right tools. Power door lock doesnt always connect with the sliding passenger side door (2 clicks usually will do it when it "misfires"). Just had the fuel pump replaced at 123,000 miles. Van gave plenty of warning...started running rough at about 118,000 miles. Tuned up at 105,000 miles. With 3 kids in sports, this van is great.

Snow Surfin Safari - 1991 GMC Safari
By miluch - January 28 - 2:00 amThis vehicle has 210,000 miles and never misses a lick. All major componants are original, no oil consumption, use it to tow regularly, and... it is just awesome in the snow and on ice slick roads.

Safari Vans vs. the minivan market - 1998 GMC Safari
By rufrider - January 6 - 2:00 amWe have had few problems with this van, and it is our second of this style. We have also owned a Toyota minivan, a Chevy Regency, and SUVs. The interior room is its greatest advantage. In comparison with the other minivans on the market, it has more leg and head room. The large area behind the rear seat holds suitcases and ice chests enough for a family for a 2 week vacation (keeping these things out of the seating area). We had this advantage with a full size van but had to deal with difficulty parking in small spaces, and gas mileage. For the most efficiency for the greatest amount of space, well choose Safari again.

GMC Safari - 1999 GMC Safari
By Lyman Miller - December 29 - 2:00 am$800.00 to replace fuel pump at 65,000 mi. $1800 to rebuild transmission at 70,000 mi.$100.00, 3 times to clear throttle sticking condition off idle. This is my first GM product after 20+ years of Ford and Dodge. I wont buy another GM. Never had expensive problems with the other brands.

good ride - 2002 GMC Safari
By emald - December 14 - 2:00 am2002 gmc safari has been a fine vehicle for my family. We have had zero problems with it. Here in Alaska the AWD and Anti lock brakes have been just the thing. With studed tires on it just wont be stopped.

Wish I hadnt bought it - 2000 GMC Safari
By J McCluskky - December 9 - 2:00 amI have a 90 Chevy Astro van, so I thought a 2000 Safari would be better. Not so. Had transmissions at 8500 mi. and at 22000 mi. A/C compressor has been replaced at 5000 mi. Engine has a random stumble and sometimes dies, but dealer cannot duplicate and repair. The exhaust tone in the rear of the van is obnoxious. I also find the drivability of the drive train less than it should be.

GMC 1993 Review - 1993 GMC Safari
By Mike Welsh - December 6 - 2:00 amThis van has about 80% highway miles. There have been no major problems encountered just nuisance ones. We did have the left-front ABS fail on a trip and caused the normal brake system to fail. The ABS sensor cable to the LF wheel broke and ONLY the ABS worked. This was really scary when you hit the brakes and all you got was the ABS sound and response. I asked GM about this and never received an answer. The BOSE CD system had be to replaced ata cost of $300. Talking to other Safari owners it seems the radio/CD unit is to close to the heating ducts.
