Why? - 2006 Ford Taurus
By wvhiker - August 14 - 2:53 pmWhy did Ford decide to cut this model out? I have driven Tauruses in the past and knew what a good car they were. Had to get a car and this was our choice. Good, dependable family car. Nothing more, nothing less. I actually like the styling as opposed to the new Taurus. I have driven the new Taurus and prefer this model as well, except the motor. Very pleased with out choice.

Not Like My 2001 - 2006 Ford Taurus
By Mark - June 24 - 3:59 amMy 2001 Taurus SE was a fine car in all respects. The 2006 I purchased appears to have been a car in which it was "thrown together" The body parts (quarter panels, doors, hood) do not match leaving gaps and mis-aligned body parts. The interior is nothing more than cheap inferior materials. My 2001 displayed great quality and care when assembled. The 2006 has none of this. The fuel economy is very good, handling and general reliablity is supreb. And it is a fun car to drive just as long as I ingnore the substandard construction. Still a good value for the money.

Great car for the money - 2006 Ford Taurus
By jtspenfield - June 11 - 9:34 pmExcellent full-sized sedan for the money! We bought a 2006 SEL with all the available options leather, sun roof, alloy wheels, ABS, etc. The car is very roomy and has very comfortable leather seats. My friends commented on how smooth the ride is! Acceleration and power are good, not top of the line, but more than adequate for most drivers. Ive been averaging 25mpg with a mix of highway and city driving. One recent long highway trip averaged 31 mpg, very nice! Folks, you own it to yourself to check this vehicle out. Great news that Ford is keeping the Taurus name!

2006 Ford Taurus SEL SDN - 2006 Ford Taurus
By Chief - March 14 - 8:02 pmAverage city highway mileage: 25.0 18,500 miles and will need to take into the repair shop for the wheels shaking at 45mph and above. Some pulling to the right. If youre 63 like myself, its hard to see the gauges. CD player only takes 1 cd at a time and for the price you pay they could give you the better radio. Seats are powered and go back and forth but no lumbar power. Add 6 way seat.

Reliable and good value for the money - 2006 Ford Taurus
By TR - January 7 - 6:54 pmThis car was NOT my first choice but I have been pleasantly surprised with the overall experience. While not the sexiest or most stylish of vehicles, it is a solid performer. The ride is smooth and comfortable, the engine is quiet and the interior cabin and its parts all seem pretty solid. Gas mileage has been very good. For the money, a used one of these with low mileage is the way to go if you are looking to save some money while still being able to drive a decent size car that has some "bells and whistles" (i.e. leather, moonroof). My only complaint is with trying to park because it is hard to judge where the nose of the vehicle is when pulling in a parking space.

Great Value - 2006 Ford Taurus
By pete - December 13 - 11:40 pmOk, so this isnt the most exciting vehicle in the world. Still, it does just about everything well. Enough power, Comfy seats, decent handling, good controls. Who would have thought you could get a car with 16,000 miles on it with leather for 12 grand? Ford - Im very impressed with how well this car does most things. 2 beefs - the stereo blows (bass anyone?) and how about ABS brakes?

Solid car, good buy - 2006 Ford Taurus
By Ken - October 26 - 6:55 pmEasy on the eyes, meaningful amenities without all the extra toys that go bad on up-scale vehicles. Plain, solid performer with comfortable seating, good heat/air and reasonable sound. Quiet as a cat.

TOO GOOD TO DISCONTINUE - 2006 Ford Taurus
By MSDJYOUNG - October 12 - 10:05 pmGreat looking aerodynamic auto. Cant remember another auto Ive owned that was as comfortable as this one. Whenever I see another Taurus on the road or parked, its just a great looking car. Ford may put out others but it wont be one as drivable, good looking and as one other reviewer put it takes the curves well. Ive upgraded mine to make it iPod ready and the music sounds great.

Take that! Foreign automakers. - 2006 Ford Taurus
By ADM HALSEY - October 12 - 10:15 amPound for pound & dollar for dollar one of the best purchases one could make for under $15,000. Excellent for highway travel and not too bad around town for mpg. Very comfortable & quiet, similar to older Lincolns. I added a trunk disk changer and new mats via Ford. A/C renders ice and heat cooks steaks. Wish I had bought it in teal instead of maroon. I feel like a fleet car escapee. Will buy as long as are available for a second car.
