  • Good car, but needs refined. - 1994 Ford Taurus

My Taurus has 145000 miles (50000 of them my own in the last 2 years) on it and I have not experienced tranny failure (although it does shift rather eratically) or the head gasket problems associated with the 3.8 V6. All of the features still work except the fuel door release. My car is reliable but overall quality and design are poor compared to the competition. The cupholders in front of the stereo are useless and the interior is flimsy. But the seats are comfortable and I get 30 MPG on my frequent highway trips. Plus the 3.8 V6 gives me plenty of passing power!

  • ford can not fix their own cars - 1994 Ford Taurus

I love this car,but it developed a problem with starting. Took to a mechanic or that iis what he called himself. $618.00 later and it still will not start. Took to Ford-$90.00 and they do not know what is wrong with the car.Maybe I can trade it in and let it be someone elses headache. I am tired of paying mechanics and tow trucks. It is sad Ford will not stand by its product. Anyone else with this problem.

  • EXCELLENT CAR!!! - 1994 Ford Taurus

This car is excellent and fun to drive! It has 120,000 miles on it and still runs like a BRAND NEW car! I have had no problems whatsoever with this car. I would not hesitate to drive this car across country and back right now. It has plenty of power to pass anyone since it is very fast, and the styling is very good looking! I will ALWAYS drive a Ford and believe they will last and are the best cars on the market. All you people who complain about your cars must not take care of them because if you take car of your car, it WILL last you forever!

With 130000 miles on it, it is still solid. It has been reliable. And its peppy!

  • SHO - Drivetrain Good, The Rest is Bad - 1994 Ford Taurus
    By -

The drivetrain has held up well. Everything else has fallen apart or off. Sunroof leaked. Paint flaking off. New radiator, new radiator tank. New starter. Ford mechanics cant get the "Check Engine" light to go out - I gave up. The engine is VERY expensive to maintain. Parts crack and break in the interior even though it is garaged in a mild climate.

  • Boring but Very Reliable! - 1994 Ford Taurus

I have owned this 1994 Taurus for 3 1/2 years and it has been the most reliable and useful family car that we have ever owned. We bought the car with 54000 miles and it now has 119000 miles. We have had to do very little to this car just the usual, brakes, tires... I am 63 and this car has plenty of room over many other midsize cars in its class. Nothing fancy in the Taurus but very good reliable transportation with a huge trunk for hauling all of our Stuff.

  • Toyota here I come. - 1994 Ford Taurus

AT 56" the ergonomics fit me which is somehting I have found of all Fords I have driven. Other than that not much else has been good about this car. The power antenna, the windshield wipers and the transmission all went out at the 50-55k point. The cruise control stopped working right at 36k. The water pump went out at 85k and also the radiater started leaking at this point. the plastic tank on the drivers side of the radiator cracked. Of course the brakes and the struts have been replaced also but that is expected maintenance. Now at 120k the car just feels worn out even with the new struts. Maybe this is the norm with all Fords!
