Overview & Reviews
Many changes are in store for the 2000 Taurus. Styling is the most obvious, with a new look for both the front and rear. Improved safety comes from a new airbag-deployment system, adjustable pedals, seatbelt pre-tensioners and child safety-seat anchors. The ride has been made more comfortable and the powertrain has been updated for more power and less noise. The V8-powered SHO has been dropped from the lineup.
- New styling, safety features, more power, good value for the money.

My 6th Taurus is the best yet - 2000 Ford Taurus
By L/Bourgeois - October 4 - 2:00 amAfter my first five taurus I expected to do another transmissionb job and brakes on a regular basis, BUT this car has been great. Transmision shifts smothly and the brakes seem to not wear out so quickly. Fuel economy is better but the back seat entry puts your head at risk of hitting the rounded corners.

get the duratec!! - 2000 Ford Taurus
By z3pilot - August 10 - 2:00 amI purchased this car used in the spring of 2003. It had 48k on it, 55k now. I drove the Duratec(24v) powered Taurus and said this is what I want. This car is very comfortable, handles pretty good for a large family sedan, And, I have embarassed a couple souped up hondas and toyotas with the acceleration. It is not the fit and finish of a honda/toyota but I only paid 8900 for it. The only thing I would change about the my Taurus Brakes. Brakes are what every review complains about. They have not given me any trouble but the car does not stop very quickly. So if your shopping for a family sedan. Check out a Duratec (24V) Taurus.

a few problems but the dealer made good! - 2000 Ford Taurus
By chevy lover - June 28 - 2:00 amcar was great until 40k. loud squeal under the hood. took three times for dealership to fix it. they made good with a free loaner (which was an ses and i hated to let go back). Turned out to be a bad water pump (1st), check engine back on (2nd), tension pulley bad (3rd). i chalk it up to poor part quality from fords suppliers!!!!

Double edge sword - 2000 Ford Taurus
By marylee - June 19 - 2:00 amI bought this car on a lease in the first year of ownership I had it in the shop 5 times for the valve clanking. and horrific gas milage. Well I fianally gave up when they kept telling me there was nothing wrong with the car. My lease is up and being 15k over the lease allowance - I will buy the car out right. I dont want another Ford this was my second. The saddest thing is it is the most comfortable car I could ask for and the safty features are great. Due I sacrifies gas gussling and clanking for cumfort?

My car review - 2000 Ford Taurus
By phatchump69 - May 21 - 2:00 amI owned an 1987 ford taurus brand new in 3 months the ignition went, and went again after a year. The car stauled constanly after 25000 miles. Then in 2000 the new ones came out, and they were good looking. There were not many cars on the market that you could get key less entry, leather seats, and a 200hp V6 for under 20000 grand. So i decided to take it. Little did i know that there were 5 recalls in 3 years, and when they went to fix the recalls that seemed to be with the brakes, the switch, and tail lights they could never get it right. So I was back and forth to the dealership. So much fun right.

Bang for the buck - 2000 Ford Taurus
By MrRLJ-2 - March 22 - 2:00 amI bought this car preowned with almost 63 thousand miles on it. This car is in good condition. I alternate from this car and my 98 Chevy Malibu LS. The Taurus is alot more confortable. I really love driving this car.

Low score on reliability - 2000 Ford Taurus
By formerCamryowner - September 22 - 10:00 amShortly after purchase, I found the A/C barely functioned on a trip from CA to AZ. Spent part of my vacation taking care of this problem. On another trip, eng coolant light kept coming on. Turned out to be a sensor, but I lost travel time checking it out and it took the dealership 1 1/2 days to fix. On a recent trip to Las Vegas, a/c was making a terrible noise. L.V. dealership said it was O.K. to drive back to CA, but local dealership said this was bad advice because a/c was "coming apart" and parts could have gotten in my engine. Took them 4 days to pretty much rebuild the a/c.

My First Ford Auto - 2000 Ford Taurus
By Tomo - September 17 - 10:00 amI have never considered buying a Ford before. I didnt like the previous shape, but liked the 2000 Taurus design. We purchased our Ford second hand (26,000 miles). We have had it over a year (current mileage 38,000). The only problem was to replace a rear light bulb. Cost under $4 at the local Checkers.
