I have had this car for a little while and i still like it my buddy just bought a new nissan truck and he hates it....I think the 3.0 in this car with 93000 miles has more power than his truck.I really like how comfortable the inside is....its much better than the cavilier i used to drive

Very expensive parts when they need to be replaced, A rebuilt Trans is about $2,000.00.

  • A strong, reliable car - 1995 Ford Taurus
    By -

Pros: Great in snow, reliable, comfortable, fast for its power rating, excellent ride & handling for base model, good looks, big trunk, solid, antilock brakes, 4-wheel disk brakes(one of the best features), fuel-door lock. Cons: Not enough power, gas mileage could be better(20city/23highway), a few rattles, cheap interior materials (dash, doors).

  • Its been a good strong car overall - 1995 Ford Taurus

This cars base engine has been wonderful. I bought this car at 9,000 miles and now it has 113000 and I have put very little money into upkeep considering the amount of use. The speedometer went out, one rear window quit working and the windshield wiper fluid pump died. Lots of trouble with the hoses and had to replace the radiator. The cupholders are the worst design every. Fluid splashes up onto the stereo. Its been my only transportation for 8 years and its never died on me.

  • Great used car purchase - 1995 Ford Taurus

I was looking for an affordable used car, and I ended up looking at a Silver taurus SE with all the options. The great thing is that Taurus are so popular that you can find one easily and cheaply. They are dependable. I havent had any major problems. The AC is awesome and so is the driving stability. Cant say the same about the brakes. Even with all new brakes, this heavy car brakes slowly. Its a great travel car for 4 or even 5 people. Its design is so bland that it still fits in with todays models, so you wont feel like your driving an older car! I love my Taurus. It has over 150K on it and looks like it could go for 200K.

  • Very good buy - 1995 Ford Taurus

Bought this car two years ago with a salvage title - it had been totaled. Milage was low, the price was right, and I needed a car. I figured Id get a year of commuting out of it. Not only have I gotten my year, this is the car we use as our main vehicle. Our other 1995 Taurus is the wifes car which we bought the year before. Both cars have served well. They are not exciting but we can count on them. Gas Milage is not bad 24 general, 32 highway cruising. The only major expense so far has been the odometers and cables. If the odometer goes - replace the cable at the same time. Also, change transmission fluid at 40,000 or so.

  • 1995 Taurus LX Wagon - 1995 Ford Taurus

There have been a few reliabilty issues including two alternators, the air conditioning compressor and the radiator. The motor does not burn a drop of oil. I have seen a lot of bad press on the transmission so, I am getting nervous. The ABS system performs flawlessly. I like the fact that it also has rear disc brakes (an option on the sedan). There was a problem with a plugged catalytic convertor at 50,000 miles, but Ford of Canada covered half the cost. I replaced the struts and shocks at 80,000 miles to improve the ride. The 3.0 liter is the better choice than the 3.8. Better fuel economy and better reliability.

  • Awesome power, sub-par reliability - 1995 Ford Taurus

I agree with all enthusiasm expressed for the SHOs performance. However, watch out. My 95 held up admirably until 2002. Then I got socked with numerous expensive repairs, over $1000 each. The Yamaha engine is bullet- proof, but the Ford parts gave me significant trouble. I broke down twice in two months.

  • a good good car - 1995 Ford Taurus

I have driven this car(3.8 L) for 8 years. After the head gasket recall mess (took 3 tries)a fuel injector replacement (due to leaking head gasket) and new motor mounts, it has been a commuter (30 mi/day). Given the mechanical history, I was test-driving replacements for this car, but 500 miles of highway driving have changed my opinion. This cars back seat exceeds the comfort of anything I have test-driven so far. I will keep this car for at least two more years, and if theres a new transmission required during that time, so be it. My only regret is that I dont have the station wagon.
