Floor mats become standard on all Taurus models, and the base V6 benefits from improved fuel economy. All but the base LX get security approach lamps, while LX and SE come standard with six-passenger seating. A slew of no-charge options are available on various Taurus models for 2002: SE gets a free power driver seat and CD player; SES comes with free leather or a moonroof (regionally available); SEL adds leather or moonroof, or both (regionally available). SEL also has standard adjustable pedals for 2002. A new SEL Wagon debuts. A new SEL premium package includes a Mach audio system, side airbags and traction control. Optional on SES and SEL is a new Luxury and Convenience group, which provides an auto-dimming rearview mirror with compass and heated side mirrors. Four new colors round out the list of changes.
- Excellent value for the money, high level of safety equipment and crash protection, available as a sedan or a wagon, usually discounted with rebates and incentives.
- Rental car stigma, poor expected resale value, no rear disc brakes on the sedan.

By J Tate - December 3 - 6:53 pmOK tranportation, but value after buying falls too quickly.Bought for 20k now with 38K miles its worth $7600. No thanks Ford, not again. The self dimming rear view mirrow is more of nunance than value, doesnt dim enough. Could of used disk brakes on rear instead of drum. If you buy one, get it used and save yourself the loss of value.

Not too bad - 2002 Ford Taurus
By glatz5 - December 24 - 2:00 amThe 2002 Ford Taurus SES is a good family car and does well in the snow. The fuel consumption is nothing get excited over, tends to burn gas quickly. Interior looks good and well manufactured. No major problems thus far but only an owner for 7 months. Would rate the Taurus "Most bang for the buck" you may notice it would it comes to its depreciation value.

By rosemarycars - December 21 - 2:00 amMy wife as owned this car,two years now with 18,000 miles.Here is the list.Pick up car,AC,does not work,at 8,000 miles front arm needs to be replaced.The dealer asked us, do we drive on bumpy roads?At 15,000 miles the transmission goes.At 15,500 transmission leaks,needed a new oil stick!!!!.At 16,000 miles,the rear end seal is leaking,and at 16,900 the module had to be changed,by the motor.Seatbelts are cheap,and many times dysfunctional.Three recalls,seatbelts,brakes,and the radio.It as the duratech engine,a plus,but thats it.Service as been great,the owner says, what can I do,these things happen.Even the power windows squeak,buy lots of wd-40

Great Deal - Poor driver comfort - 2002 Ford Taurus

I find that the seat, pedal distance, and pedal location all add up to make my ride uncomfortable even for short distances. There is just something about it that isnt right. Maybe it is my height (I am 58) but still, it doesnt seem that it was designed to completely put the driver at ease. I have to prop my thigh up with a small towel to give me the distance and height that I need. Besides this, I do feel that the car is a great deal. You get a whole lot of car for not much money. You may not get the performance and build quality of others cars, but it is worth the price.
