This Year's Model Updates:

After the 2000 redesign, updates are minor. A Lower Anchor and Tether for Children (LATCH) is now standard on all models. LATCH is an anchoring system for child safety seats. Also new is Spruce Green Clearcoat Metallic, an increase in fuel tank capacity to 18 gallons, a six-disc CD changer standard on SES models, power locks standard on LX and an optional rear spoiler.

Pros:
  • Excellent value for the money, high level of safety, available as a sedan or a wagon.
Cons:
  • Rental car stigma, front seats lack comfort, no rear disc brakes on the sedan.

  • no engine problems - 2001 Ford Taurus

Weak front end and suspension system, which Im finding is typical of Ford. Sound system marginal. Very disappointing car. Good dealership.

  • MY TAURUS WAGON - 2001 Ford Taurus
    By -

The taurus se wagons are made fairly cheap. The quality of components that ford usess in thier manufacture is on the low side of quality. If the wagon or sedan has the overhead valve V-6 (12V) Vulcan engine expect lower performance. The suspension and ride quality is on the low side also. The taurus devalues quickly and costs much to own due to the low quality of craftsmanship on the cars components.

  • Ford Taurus I Wish I Didnt Own - 2001 Ford Taurus

We own a 2000 Ford Taurus. Seriously disappointed with the quality and reliability of this car. We also own a Toyota Sienna which we are very happy with. Dont think Ill buy another american car, every one weve owned has been junk.

  • Inexpensive family car - 2001 Ford Taurus
    By -

A decent family car. Good interior size, large back seat, good size trunk. Adjustable brake pedal is neat. Exterior is stylish and good looking. Poor brakes. Front rotors and pads had to be replaced with just over 36K on them. No standard antilock. Poor fuel economy, about 18 mpg around town. Crappy resale value.

  • Buy a Chevrolet Impala. - 2001 Ford Taurus

The 3.0 Vulcan V6 engine belongs in a compact car. The pick up is sluggish and it has no top end. Other V6 base model Midsize Sedans such as the Chevrolet Impala and the Dodge Intrepid simply blow you away on the expressways. My 2001 Taurus has had a front end vibration from the date of purchase. After many visits to several dealerships for this and other issues, Ive simply given up and decided to live with my regretful decision for having purchased this car. Ive had the pleasure of driving a 2001 Chevrolet Impala recently, and what an all around positive difference.

  • Tauras worst car ever owned - 2001 Ford Taurus
    By -

The 2001 Tauras SE is the most uncomfortable car Ive ever been in. My back actually hurts from sitting in that brick hard seat. Pick up is horrible, I would never try to pass on a two lane highway. I get stuck behind a school bus and I can just plan on staying there. Sound system is pitiful. It rides horrible, you feel every bump and its loud. I have a GMC Sierra truck that rides smoother and is much more comfortable. I hate the tauras and try not to drive it as much as possible.
