Overview & Reviews
Many changes are in store for the 2000 Taurus. Styling is the most obvious, with a new look for both the front and rear. Improved safety comes from a new airbag-deployment system, adjustable pedals, seatbelt pre-tensioners and child safety-seat anchors. The ride has been made more comfortable and the powertrain has been updated for more power and less noise. The V8-powered SHO has been dropped from the lineup.
- New styling, safety features, more power, good value for the money.

A good buy - 2000 Ford Taurus
By Doug S. - April 18 - 2:00 amMy wife and I have no real complaints. Its got all the power needed for passing with the 24 valve engine. Its comfortable, road noise is their but not bad. Ours has leather seats and great interior features. The headlights are extra brite. Resale value stinks because of the rental market but I didnt buy it for resale. I bought it to drive and own for most of its useful life maybe 8 to 10 years. So far not one mechanical problem. Just a real nice car for the price. This is our first "new" car ever bought.

Be ware before you purchase a Ford Car - 2000 Ford Taurus
By enb74 - March 17 - 2:00 amI bought this car for me and my wife in 2000. Though the ride and comfortable level is good the Fort Taurus numerous amount of problems is a killer. My NEW car had a leak in the steering pump, a leak in the ABS and ABS pump needed to be replaced. I had a leak on the interior passenger side. I send several letters to Ford Motor who never responded. I owned a Chevy before and I wanted to stay with Domestic cars, but at the level of service provided by Ford, I believe they lost another good costumer.

Great Family Car - 2000 Ford Taurus
By GregP - January 29 - 10:00 amI traded in an Explorer for this vehicle and couldnt be more pleased. This is my first car in 10 years and I absolutely love it. I like the redesign of the Taurus. It rides smoothly and handles very well. If your looking for an everyday vehicle for commuting or family use I highly recommend this car.

2000 Ford Taurus SE - 2000 Ford Taurus
By Anniemarie998 - December 10 - 2:00 amI enjoy driving this vehicle. The shape is much better than the oval-patterned older models. The interior is roomy as well as the trunk space. It gives me an "old-people" feel, but I defantily feel much safer in this car with my family.

Excellent midsize sedan value.. - 2000 Ford Taurus
By dmk71 - September 29 - 10:00 amIve owned my 02 Taurus SEL for about 3mos & am impressed enough to take time to rate it in this review.I previously owned a Camry & Malibu, both late model & decent vehicles but, neither rode as comfortably & securely as this Taurus. Granted, the Taurus has always been known for high safety content & value & durability im told by other owners. In closing,i highly recommend this finely engineered/built sedan..i have about 5,000mis so far & no problems or complaints to report.

Low score on reliability - 2000 Ford Taurus
By formerCamryowner - September 22 - 10:00 amShortly after purchase, I found the A/C barely functioned on a trip from CA to AZ. Spent part of my vacation taking care of this problem. On another trip, eng coolant light kept coming on. Turned out to be a sensor, but I lost travel time checking it out and it took the dealership 1 1/2 days to fix. On a recent trip to Las Vegas, a/c was making a terrible noise. L.V. dealership said it was O.K. to drive back to CA, but local dealership said this was bad advice because a/c was "coming apart" and parts could have gotten in my engine. Took them 4 days to pretty much rebuild the a/c.

My First Ford Auto - 2000 Ford Taurus
By Tomo - September 17 - 10:00 amI have never considered buying a Ford before. I didnt like the previous shape, but liked the 2000 Taurus design. We purchased our Ford second hand (26,000 miles). We have had it over a year (current mileage 38,000). The only problem was to replace a rear light bulb. Cost under $4 at the local Checkers.

Luxury at an affordable price - 2000 Ford Taurus
By Al in St. Joe - July 24 - 2:00 amI love this car. I wanted a Lincoln, but couldnt afford one. The Taurus SEL loaded up with many of the Lincoln features was my answer. The 24-valve DOHC engine has excellent acceleration and there is an outstanding mix of comfort and functionality. After almost three years and 41,000 miles it has proven itself very reliable and problem free. The six disc CD changer is conveniently located in the center console, a big plus.
