This Year's Model Updates:

The flareside pickup bed option is no longer available. Package updates and revised wheel and tire options round out the changes to the 2005 Ford Ranger.

Pros:
  • Multiple trim levels and options, functional interior, cheap price.
Cons:
  • Dated platform, weak engines, choppy ride, lack of modern features and amenities, no crew cab body style.

  • Best Truck Made - 2005 Ford Ranger

I wanted this truck for a long time and finally came up with the funds to get it. It is wonderful! I am a very picky person and I can not find anything wrong with it. It is the best truck ever made!

  • Ford Tough At A Reasonable Price. - 2005 Ford Ranger

The 2005 Ranger XL 2WD Reg Cab with the 2.3L EFI 4 cylinder engine is a fun and reasonably priced package. While Id like a little better acceleration, I find what it delivers adequate. I have the 5-speed automatic O/D transmission and its very smooth. The A/C works very well (important in Florida) and cools the cab quickly even on hot days. The dash and instrument panels are laid out well and all the controls are easy to reach.

Surprisingly good build quality and great off-road capability.

  • Love my RANGER - 2005 Ford Ranger

Very impressed with the build quality, and ergonomic features of the vehicle. Great support and service from my local Ford dealer (surprisingly). Former BMW and Porsche owner, so I know how service and fit and finish should be.

  • Ford Travel Machine - 2005 Ford Ranger

The Ranger is used daily for city transportation and occasionally for vacation travel. I have only one complaint and that is the gas mileage needs to be improved for highway driving. I ordered the 4 door Super Cab 4.0 V6 with the 5-speed automatic and 4:10 gearing so I could pull a small travel trailer. The truck has more than enough power even when used in the Colorado Mountains. The tachometer shows 2600 RPM in 5th gear at 70 MPH, it just needs another gear for empty highway crushing.

  • My favorite Ford - 2005 Ford Ranger

Previously owned a 1999 Ranger 4x4 Supercab, the 2005 is quieter, has more power for passing and merging on the interstate, and the 4 wheel ABS brakes have excellent stopping power without grabbing or being noisy. The color I got was Sonic blue very nice color.

  • I Love my Ranger! - 2005 Ford Ranger

After owning a Volvo, BMW, Porsche, and Nissan, I was pleasantly surprised with the fit and finish, comfort and reliability of this Ford Truck. I cannot comment on their sedans which I have read extensively they are horrible. If your looking for a inexpensive and reliable pick up truck. Ford has it!

  • Excellent Truck - 2005 Ford Ranger

I have used my truck for recreation, work, and general daily duties. Is perfect for trip to hunting due to size and weight. It was preferred by my co-hunters for it compact size and ability. Worked well when building my deck, performed well when loaded with construction supplies. Has been a reliable and efficient vehicle in going to and from work.

  • Ranger ext cab worth the money - 2005 Ford Ranger

God handling, excellent paint and body especially with the 4-door model. Jump seats a bit cramped but local commutes not bad. Good all around track-record no major repairs as of yet.

  • My last Ford Purchase - 2005 Ford Ranger
    By -

I have had the clutch replaced because of a loud squeaking sound. Took 9 trips to dealerships to get fixed. Vehicle does have problems when trying to start. Have to continuously grind it to get started. Will never buy another Ford. Ford Motor Company refuses to do anything with the problem I have with a fender that is dulled off and has lost its metallic finish. Also, they say there is nothing they can do regarding the paint overspray on the left front fender. So much for help from the home office!
