If you dont have a lot of cash, this truck is for you. Get a Hayes manual for repairing it yourself, cause it is easy to do maintenance on and Ford Dealerships will charge you 150 bucks for a 40 dollar repair.

After reading consumer reports and other reviews of small pickups, I wanted a Ranger ext. cab. They are in short supply in the used market and I was finally able to find one owned by a retired couple. With the 2.3 litrert engine its not a speed demon but cruises easily on highway and freeway. the interior dash is nice and uncluttered with controls easy to reach. A very comfortable ride on pavement and dirt.

I have been very happy with my XL long bed. It has always been reliable, with nice interior, relatively smooth ride. I have also had probs with the dome light and door chime staying on from time, particularly in hot weather. Ditto the check engine light. If someone has a good solution, pls e- mail.

I bought this truck with the 3.0 V6 wanting dependability and high utility I wanted reasonable milage and power. I had did not expect high performance from this truck. I have had few problems nothing that stranded me. Maintenance parts are reasonably priced and available. I can depend on my truck to get me where I need to go day in and day out. The only real disappointment has been the performance of the 3.0. The mileage has been good but the acceleration is not much beyond the 2.3. I also have always been forced to use premium gas if I want to avoid serious knocking.

Before my father bought my Ranger 2 DR XLT Extended Cab, I had never owned a truck. Ill never have another truck but this Ranger. It has never let me down and lives up to Fords reputation for building a tough a truck, even if it is a small truck. Ive taken numorous trips in it and its been a delight to drive and the comfort of the 60/40 seats keeps me happy. Its a true joy to drive on the open roads, handles very well, as it does on country back roads. It drives like a truck should drive, yet you dont feel like youre being beaten to death. I work for a local V.E.T. center (Vehicle Emission Testing) and its VERY rare to see a Ranger fail the required testing standards.

I bought my Ranger in 1997 with only 19000 miles on the 2 year old truck. I have had absolutely no mechanical problems with the truck in the past 5 years. The 5-speed manual transmission paired with the 2.3 L engine can be a little lacking at times. When it comes to comfort I have been satisfied with the bucket seats on long drives. All the inside controls are easy to use. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions regarding the 1995 Ford Ranger.

Have had some annoying electrical and emission problems that keep needing to get fixed.

  • Many Small Electrical Problems - 1995 Ford Ranger

This has been a great truck but I have had many little electrical problems. It started when I tried to use the 4WD for the first time. It didnt work and dealer said the electronic components were never installed at the factory. In 2000 the wipers quit working (electrical problem). In 2001 the door ajar alarm will not shut off and the windshield wash will not work. I think I will try a different make next time.
