My Ranger is no more - 2002 Ford Ranger
By heeler - February 10 - 12:56 pmThis was my second Ranger. My first was a 1992 single cab XLT with a then 100 h.p. weak 2.3 engine with a 5 speed manual. Very good truck for what it was. Bought my 02 at the end of the model year and paid 14,000 before tax for a loaded supercab. Very reliable truck that in its life only needed front brakes at 73k,two serpentine belts, two batteries, and finally at 92k the power steering pump started leaking and was replaced. Oh yea and at 65k one of the rear turn signal bulbs burned out. Usually would get 18-19 mpgs going to and from work and 21 mpg with the cruise set on 77 mph. The 3.0 liter engine coupled with the 5 speed auto is great. Last week I totaled her. So sad.

This truck is awesome - 2002 Ford Ranger
By Mike C - September 15 - 4:06 pmThis truck has it all. Great engine (4L), great looks (flareside bed), great interior (bucket seats), great ride, and great dealer. Metallic Ice Blue paint gets comments everywhere. Fit and finish is superb. 6-CD in dash stereo rocks. This is a REAL truck for people who love trucks. Only negative is gas mileage (17mpg avg) - but hey- its 4WD and was no surprise. Got a great deal too (bought at invoice)!

Awesome little truck - 2002 Ford Ranger
By timri - January 22 - 1:49 pmMy Ranger has been one of, if not the most, reliable vehicles I have ever owned. In the 6 years of ownership, have done nothing but oil changes to date. Handles heavy loads easily. Tows my boat with ease. I have been a Ford fan for many years and between this and my 2002 Lincoln Continental I dont foresee needing to buy anoother new vehicle for many years to come.

Great! - 2002 Ford Ranger
By flumsteve - August 20 - 12:09 amI work in a sand mine where I have to constantly go into sand and mud. It handles very well in even the most loose of sand and if 2wd wont do it, than the 4wd will! Great truck all around.

Good, reliable truck - 2002 Ford Ranger
By 2002 Ranger Owner - August 13 - 10:32 pmI purchased my Ford Ranger SuperCab (4- cylinder with a manual transmission) new in 2002. It has been 100% reliable with no problems ever. I am extremely pleased with its reliability, quality of Ford workmanship, and most of all the gas mileage performance. Before I purchased my Ranger, I test drove the Chevy S-10, Nissan Frontier, and Toyota Tacoma. I decided on the Ford Ranger because of its price and the cab size seemed to me to be larger than the other trucks. It is a great truck, fun to drive, and it has been 100% reliable. Preventative maintenance is easy.

Ford Ranger - 2002 Ford Ranger
By Lyle - July 15 - 3:51 pmVery relaxing vehicle to drive. Payload is more than expected. Has plenty of power and good fuel mileage. A friend of mine drove it half way across the country and she has 3 herniated discs in her back and she did fine.If I was going to buy another pickup ,this is what I would purchase.

Gets you where youre going - 2002 Ford Ranger
By tvrug - June 17 - 6:06 amThis is the second Ranger Ive owned. The first was a 98 4.0 5-speed. After 175,000 miles of being reliable I bought another. The only complaint so far is that the brakes would fade when stopping quickly, especially with a load. Replaced stock brakes with EBC slotted rotors and EBC Green Stuff 7000 series pads. Stops like a sports car now. Will go through a lot when off road thanks to the limited slip rear differential. Great that the front axle is turning all the time. This eliminates the worry of tearing up a hub when on the trail.

Ranger Edge plus 4.0 4x4 - 2002 Ford Ranger
By Mark Palmer - August 26 - 10:00 amThe Ranger Edge plus 4x4 is my first new vehicle in ten years. I was attracted by its looks, features, and price. Thus far I am very happy with just about everything on this truck. It is a good value and financing through Ford was 0%. I have not been back to the dealer with any troubles yet and it seems to be built quite solidly.
