Overview & Reviews
The flareside pickup bed option is no longer available. Package updates and revised wheel and tire options round out the changes to the 2005 Ford Ranger.
- Multiple trim levels and options, functional interior, cheap price.
- Dated platform, weak engines, choppy ride, lack of modern features and amenities, no crew cab body style.

Yum, I like to eat tires - 2005 Ford Ranger
By Mike - March 26 - 7:45 pmI bought my little 4 cyl. for about 10k. It has nothing but ac, spray in bedliner, and a cd player. I like the interior and the seats okay. My problem is it always eats the tires. I have the tires rotated, and the alignment check over and over and yet it still eats the inside of the front left. Ford says there is nothing wrong with it.. You get what you pay for. I want something new but my wife wont let me get anything worthwhile and we dont have much money so 10k is 10k. Stay away if you arent poor like me.

Poor Brakes, poor quality! - 2005 Ford Ranger
By Ken - December 26 - 6:42 pmI have owned this Ranger for almost two years. I have faced continuous problems with the braking system. Continued maintenance required that is charged to "clean, adjust, lubricate, inspect" the brakes. Pad on disc brakes continue to hang up. Too many issues with the entire braking system for me to be satisfied with this vehicle. If you live in a climate where there is snow and/or road salt, do not buy as you will have to pay for the brake service at least once a year ($80+). I have had mine done three times because normal driving on highways with snow, road salt, sand causes brakes to hang up. Would recommend looking at foreign made trucks such as Nissan Frontier and Toyota Tacoma instead!

another Ford - 2005 Ford Ranger
By dave - September 5 - 5:33 pmThe 3.0 just doesnt have the power for todays highways, not even talking about the poor gas mileage of 18.5 if I am real careful. Just sold my 91 Ranger with 168,000 and it was able to get 22+ miles per gal. and the 4.0 engine was very great with plenty of power.

My last Ford Purchase - 2005 Ford Ranger
By JRT1 - April 7 - 12:21 amI have had the clutch replaced because of a loud squeaking sound. Took 9 trips to dealerships to get fixed. Vehicle does have problems when trying to start. Have to continuously grind it to get started. Will never buy another Ford. Ford Motor Company refuses to do anything with the problem I have with a fender that is dulled off and has lost its metallic finish. Also, they say there is nothing they can do regarding the paint overspray on the left front fender. So much for help from the home office!

Terrible Ride - 2005 Ford Ranger
By Andrew Sievert - September 19 - 2:00 amThis Truck is good in many ways, however it has the most irritating vibration in the seat(rear end problem) between 20-50 mph the rear just shakes and vibrates. I tried to have the dealer fix it but they could not and then on my 4th visit they had a Ford engineer inspect it The conclusion was that this is how the truck is supposed to perform and there is no fix available. I just got it july 29,2004 and will be syuck with it for a long time to come. I would recommend you look elswhere if comfort and a smooth ride are important.
