Dont buy a Ford Probe - 1997 Ford Probe
By Matt - March 18 - 12:00 pmIts a fun car to drive but reliability isnt great. Ive replaced both cv joints, alternator, catalytic converter, two distributors, and to top it all off, right after I bought it with 29,000 miles on it, the electrical "brain" that controls all electronics crapped out. Even with the extended warranty that came with the car when I bought it used it still cost me 200 bucks to fix it! RIDICULOUS! Thats why Im going to buy a Toyota.

Owned for 11 years - 1993 Ford Probe
By Verbal - February 25 - 12:00 amI bought the car with 12,000 miles on the odometer, and have been driving it for the last 11 years. The handling is tremendous every freeway on ramp is a blast. The V6 winds out nicely, and the car still looks contemporary today. The seats are very comfortable. At 147,000 miles, it still has the original clutch, and the engine feels tight. Problem areas: the distributor quit at 50k miles the rear brake calipers have been replaced a couple of times due to locking the paint is fading despite regular wax jobs the hatch has rattled since day 1 the valve cover gaskets leak and the wind whistles around the passenger door seal.

Sleeper Sports Car - 1995 Ford Probe
By runninwiththedevil - January 31 - 12:17 amGorgeous curves, power to spare, reliable as an anvil, the 5 speed Probe GT has been a sheer delight to own and drive. 135,000 trouble free miles thus far. A true enthusiasts car, will be sad to let this one go for family considerations.

Probe SE - 1993 Ford Probe
By SilverBullit - August 22 - 6:15 pmVery fun to drive. 30-40 more HP would be nice without having to upgrade to the V6. Very reliable, just recently spun a rod bearing @ 140,000+ miles. Otherwise no major problems. Hard to find GOOD brakes, certain brands are better. Would recommend to anyone who wants a two seater that is good on gas.

Ford Probe - 1994 Ford Probe
By Chaz - July 9 - 4:28 amGood car but too slow and too hard to find performance parts. Pulled a 18.5 1/4 mile which is pretty slow but fun and good looking.

still turns heads - 1994 Ford Probe
By john smith - July 8 - 5:44 amI have the GT model. I like the power but you would expect a V6 not work to hard, as it does in the probe. For a 94 It is in really good shape. The struts that support the hatch needed replacement. The O2 sensor went bad. The brakes all around were replaced before I took the car. The ride is harsh, but I had 17s put on the car. The car is really bad in snow. But it eats up twisty roads with no problem. Overall with some aftermarket product this car can standout. My old turbo GT was much more fun and downright quick compared to this model.

Owned Two Probes - 1995 Ford Probe
By Kayster - July 6 - 3:54 pmI first owned a 1994 Probe and never had a problem with it but now have the 1995 SE and had nothing but one problem after another. Especially with the o/d light coming on and flashing on and off. This made the transmission completely go and just had to fork out $1700 to replace it. A great car to drive but sorry transmissions.

Excellent Value - 1993 Ford Probe
By NJRoadster - April 19 - 12:38 amGreat Car! Very reliable, never had any major issues with the car. The thing handles like it is on rails. It is very fun to drive and turns a lot of heads with its good looks and the Flowmasters purring. Exceptional handling in the rain with z rated Aquatread tires. Ample storage for going out and about. The car is capable of getting great gas mileage when needed. I would say this is the best car I have ever owned the car is very reliable, looks good, is very fun to drive, has a lot of pep and is easy to maintain.

Bad Taste in My Mouth - 1997 Ford Probe
By lrivers - April 15 - 2:21 pmHeard for years to steer clear of Ford transmissions. Now I know why. Bought this car thinking it had a Mazda 626 engine so would be safe. Didnt realize Ford was providing 626 engines for several years. Bought used with 130K on it for daughter. Within a month it developed a slow leak in transmission fluid, she didnt keep up with it and it died in the middle of the road at midnight on a Sunday night. Cost $1500 for a used unknown, $1800 to rebuild. Find out that consumers were wailing for a recall because failure was typical starting at 60K. Too bad. Car is nice looking.
