I love this car! - 1996 Ford Probe
By wantrs50 - July 12 - 1:59 amI have put 50,000 miles on my GT in 5+ years and have yet to make a repair, only regular maintenance. The only problem Ive had is the EGR valve malfunctioning. Now with 105,000 miles it still runs like a champ. Check ebay and you will see these approaching 300,000 miles sometimes. The Mazda 2.5 v6 is a great engine, though not on par with todays Japanese sporty engines. The braking and handling are superb. This car "feels right" more than any car I have ever driven, and I have driven many. I have other vehicles, but simply refuse to sell my ol Probe because I love it too much. This car really is a gem! Get a nice one if you get the chance - itll be well worth the money.

Definitely a performance tuner - 1994 Ford Probe
By PrbAdctn - June 28 - 11:26 pmOne of the best cars IÂ’ve ever had. Definitely a fun tuner. Currently running about 320hp with the KLZE engine, twin turbo with 2.5 intercooler, polished headers and a Borla dual exhaust system (and thatÂ’s the big parts). Not very roomy under the hood but relocating a few things makes up just fine. Great car to have and my gas mileage is still decent (about 23mpg). HavenÂ’t found any problems yet and you wonÂ’t as long as you know how to take care of it. Interior is nice. IÂ’m 62 and IÂ’m never uncomfortable. Highly suggest this car if you come across one thatÂ’s still in good shape. Very fun to drive

Not worth it! - 1991 Ford Probe
By mike - June 28 - 12:02 am2.2l auto-trans. I bought the car in 1994 w/ 47k miles. I preformed full tune-ups on the car every 12k miles and changed the oil every 3k miles, timing belt and everything else. Despite this, The Probe was a nightmare. I had to replace both front axles twice, the transmission went out at 75k, the a/c went-out at 85k. Every mechanic said it was an $800 or more fix. When the car hit 110k the engine became tired and the mileage went down to 22mpg on the highway. Finally, the clearcoat started to fade and chip. I traded it in for a Dodge in 2001.

My baby - 1994 Ford Probe
By savetherhin0 - April 22 - 1:43 amIve have a good experience with my Probe. Ive owned it 6-7 years with not major problems. The biggest problem was the water pump and timing belt at 130K. Other then that, I replaced the entire exhaust and havent had further problems. I am currently having a problem with the oil pan, but stuff happens. Ive only been let down by it once in the snow-altenator and power steering belts broke. Only about 100 bucks and half my day. It actually does surprisingly well in the snow and it is a joy to drive in the summer.

Somewhat decent - 1997 Ford Probe
By rockexrolloh - March 26 - 12:05 pmThis was my first car and weve had quite a few problems with it. Every winter, the car dies. At one point, it wouldnt get any power and kept stalling. Sometimes it just wouldnt start. Mechanics couldnt figure out what the problem was but its doing okay now. Sometimes it still stalls and shakes really bad. The AC just quit working even after being recharged, the lights will not go back down (and one is dimmer than the other. Cant figure out why even after replacing it), cigarette lighter broke, speakers arent that great, whole exhaust system had to be replaced, etc. This car would be perfect if it didnt have so many problems. Its extremely fun to drive and has a lot of power.

Probe SE - 1994 Ford Probe
By Probe se - March 25 - 10:31 pmI have put 25,000 miles on this car since buying it and have done nothing but maintenance. It handles great, looks nice and gets good mileage. I dont see many on the road any longer which to me makes it that much more desirable. My 94 has only 78,000 miles on it and I am constantly asked if I would sell it. I have become pretty attached to this sporty little car.

Sigh - 1996 Ford Probe
By edismz - March 1 - 3:13 pmI love this cars roar once it passes 3000rpms the handling is pretty good for a FWD. But if you want a sports why would you get a FWD? Fun drive, but horrible reliability. One problem after another. If you own a Probe, 90% of the money will be going to be going into the car because of the poor reliability. The Mazda engine is excellent on that car, but that is all.

"This car is FUN!!" - 1994 Ford Probe
By Ryan - January 11 - 2:41 pmThe Ford Probe GT is a great fun to drive car. It has great reliability. Nothing was replace on the car until around 110,000 miles. The Probe still has its original transmission at 142,000 miles. It handles like a true sports car. It can really hold the road and has a super fast take off for a 2.5 V6. PS: It gets gas mileage and be even faster with premium gas.

My best car ever - 1991 Ford Probe
By Red Rider - December 20 - 5:48 pmMy 91 Probe is now 16 years old, V-6 has close to 300,000 miles. Still has original motor and tranny (auto) does not smoke and still has great get up and go. I also purchased a 97 Probe GT a few years ago, because I love this car so much. It is so much fun to drive, great styling, very dependable. Still my daily driver (150 miles each day). This car is fantastic, it handles like a sports car. Still a head turner. Next week I will travel to Minnesota to pick up my new 1991 Probe LX V-6. One owner, 26,000 mi, original tires, it looks like it just came of the showroom floor. Cant wait to bring her home to Colorado. Merry Christmas 2006 to me Trust me this is one great car to own and drive.

EXCELLENT CAR - 1995 Ford Probe
By Cherish - November 18 - 12:34 amThis car is the best car Ive ever had! They should make this car still. I will always try to have a Ford Probe. My old car was a 1993 Ford Probe SE with almost 300,000 miles and it was still running when I sold it. These cars are so reliable. Ive never been disappointed in this car.
