  • A Great Little Sports Card - 1995 Ford Probe
    By -

Ive only owned my Probe for about a month now, but Ive really enjoyed driving it. Combined with the 5-speed manual transmission, the Probe can get moving pretty quickly. It looks great, even for a 14 year old year. Seats are very comfortable, and the whole interior is well layed out. It gets pretty good gas mileage considering its a 6 cylinder. The trunk space is pretty generous as well, with a 60/40 split rear-seat. All-in-all, the Probe GT is a great little sports coupe!

  • Love my probe - 1993 Ford Probe

I have a 93 SE and I love it. It didnt wanna go uphill on take off but if you get a new upgraded exaust or some type of small Horse Power adjustment it doesnt take away from the fuel economy and also gives you that little boost. Sound system stinks in this model. Change to a cd player and change to pioneer deck speakers. Also mine came with a stock subwoofer in the back built into the right panel. If you take that out and take the wires from the back of it then buy a subwoofer it will BUMP!!! I have 3 JL audio tens in there now and it rattles my trunk! I have tried many things and it seems to be just fine pushing at 2 and 4ohms. if its shutting off while bumpin try to hook it up other ways.

  • My 2nd Ford Probe - 1997 Ford Probe
    By -

The 1997 Ford probe was my 2nd (my first was a 1990). The 1990 died at 140K mi and my 1997 is at 130K on its final legs. Its been a pretty good, reliable car, but in the last 6 months Ive had to put in $1000 in repairs. Its had computer chip problems, the axles fell out, new battery, the exhaust is starting to fall out. Its fun to drive and looks great! Sometimes repairs are a bit unusual because I am told its actually a Mazda, so the parts are not from Ford. Ive truly loved this car, Im sad its life is over.

  • Bought Used - 1994 Ford Probe
    By -

I bought this car in November of 08 with 180,000 miles on it. Guy just didnt want it anymore and was only asking $1000 cash. Im now at 190,500 miles and Ive just replaced the original transmission. I could tell she was used as a racer, but I thought with a little TLC, I could get her back to being a decent car for all the work she had to have done to her. Ive put in a new distributor, ignition control module, cap, rotor, egr sensor, egr valve, fuel filter, fuel pump, bosch wires and bosch iridium plugs in her. She runs like a champ and I dont foresee any major work anytime in the near future. Ill turn 200,000 miles no problem.

  • Turning out to be expensive - 1996 Ford Probe
    By -

I bought this car for 2,500 back in may and have had to spend another 3,000 in repairs. its turning into such a hassle. when its running good its a great car. pretty quick, very good handling, but once again not very reliable.

  • Looks can be decieving - 1997 Ford Probe
    By -

Bought my 97 Probe GT with nearly 145k on it the end of January 2009. The same day i drove it off the lot, the dreadful check engine light came on. Drove fine intill i was on my way home 4 days later, car stalled out and i had to pull it to side of road. It has an electrical issue that causes it to stall out and no given time and it will restart when it wants, Mazda specialist couldnt diagnose problem. After stalling on me 50+ times the 350 miles i drove it, it finally died on me on March 1st, i was taking off from my driveway and the timing belt went, killing the engine. I love the car, but Probe GTs are extremely troublesome if they were beaten. Very expensive to maintain. Dont buy Probes.

  • Fordza - 1995 Ford Probe

This car handles far better than most sports cars, and she loves to run. For those of you who dont know this is a Ford design with the Mazda mx6 engine. For those who want a sports car on a budget, this is it. The GT is the funnest car Ive ever owned.

  • Still great after all these years - 1994 Ford Probe
    By -

Ive had my Probe GT since 2000 now and its just as reliable as the 89 probe LX I had in the 90s. They always started for me as long as the battery was worth a darn. They dont require any more maintence than any other modern car with O2 sensors and fuel injection. They actually are way less complicated than cars made after 2000 that have crap like O2 sensors built into the catalatic converter and other mergers of components that make repair more expensive and upgrades impossable. The avalible upgrades are endless, from Lambo doors to head- light conversions the only limitation is your wallet. Horsepower is easily beefed up. Most cars wish they had upgrades like this avalible. A++ always!

  • Fun, nice looking repair prone car - 1996 Ford Probe
    By -

I bought my GT new. While it is a great looking vehicle ive had a few problems. Recently had the top and lower idler pulleys in the engine go. That would have been fatal for the engine without a little luck. At 50,000 miles I had the ignition distributor assembly go. The engine just shut off in rush hour traffic. $700 for remanufactred part. Radiator in 04. Water pump in 03. Spark plug wire set in 02. R/F and L/F axles in 03. The rear lift on the hatch loses it,s ability to stay up. Had that fixed before. The car leaks coolant and a little oil. My mechanic says dont worry about it cause its not worth fixing. I know the car is old but it has only 60,000 miles on it. Fun to drive.
