  • not to shabby - 1996 Ford Probe
    By -

the car for me was a little under powered with its 2.5ltr 164 hp mazda engine. The car however now has 150,000 miles on it and is still running from its original 5 speed tranny and motor. The sunroof rusts like carzy but isnt leaking yet. The car is fun to drive, handles great in the snow, it can take a sharp 90 degree corner at 50 mph. The car is worth it. Unfortunately at 150,000 miles though it is beginning to show signs of age. The parts are very expensive for this car and if you are a do it yourselfer like me u had better have alot of time to work on this car, nothing is easy on this car.

  • what is my car worth on the market now? - 1992 Ford Probe
    By -

I have driven this car from coast to coast in hard rain, snow and all kinds of weather and altitude. It performs well and serves as a sleeper under the hatchback with the back seats down in a pinch. The all-around windows make my air conditioning a necessity in hot weather driving and the heater just as important in high altitudes and cold weather. A wonder to drive - as I get older I look toward fewer trips across the US.

  • Best Car I Ever Owned - 1991 Ford Probe
    By -

Ive owned several cars over the years and no other car has been in the same league as my Probe. 100% reliability... never a problem. I wouldnt change a thing on it (except for the addition of a cupholder). Very fast and handles like a true sports car. I would recommend it to anyone. Its a shame they dont make them anymore.

  • Anything But Reliable - 1994 Ford Probe
    By -

This car was great for the first few months. Everything worked fine. Once it got to about 100,000 miles everything just started falling apart. It needed new bearings, cv joints, mass air flow sensor, oxygen sensors, water pump, and belts. The complete brake system had to be replaced. The calipers, the lines, the pads and everything. It still needs a new clutch, and the transmission is really, really jerky in reverse. I know all of these repairs are common for higher milage cars, but $3,000+ in repairs in only 6 months is just outrageous. That is probably more then it is actually worth.

  • A decent performer, too little resale - 1995 Ford Probe
    By -

The low resale value on the Probe allowed me to purchase it, but Ill take a hit when I sell. In between, at least Ill have had a good ownership experience. Ive now got 125K miles on it, with only two CV boots replaced. Ive got a broken antenna to fix, a switch on the passenger door and the A/C started to make noise. Other than that, just maint. costs in 65K miles. Has never failed me. I love the handling and power. The 2.5L Mazda motor really spins and the sounds it makes are great!

  • Eats Transmissions For Lunch - 1996 Ford Probe
    By -

Check around and verify before buying one of these. Im not making this up. Transmissions are known to fail, and cannot be found used and still shifting. Ford will gladly sell you a $3500 rebuilt with little warranty if you ask nicely. Babied this car, and it sits in the yard needing $3500 to move again. Just avoid it... Trust me, it looks pretty, but its not worth it!

  • 1993 Ford Probe GT - 1993 Ford Probe
    By -

Best car Ive owned. I have about 80K miles on it now, has never given me a problem. The Mazda motor is very reliable, the only thing Ive done to it is change the timing belt and water pump (routine maintenance) and tune- ups/oil changes. Its quick, and insuranve is cheap. Highly recommended.

  • Good Car - 1993 Ford Probe

I like this car alot. It looks great and performance isnt bad for a cylinder engine. No mechanical problems whatsoever in the 2 years I have owned it. Downside is the interior is very cheap.

  • great reliable car - 1993 Ford Probe

Ive had my Probe for 6 years and the biggest expensive was new tires. Fun to drive with decent power from the mazda engine.

My 1995 Ford Probe runs like a dream... She is great on gas.. but I must admit when I turn the wheal every now and then she sounds like a 3rd grade teather ball game.
