This Year's Model Updates:

Heavily updated is the 2003 SVT Mustang Cobra, which makes 390 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque thanks to the addition of an Eaton supercharger. A new six-speed manual transmission drives the rear wheels through a 3.55 rear axle ratio. Larger wheels and tires come standard, along with stiffer springs and a tubular cross brace. Cobra convertibles have a cloth top, while both cars get new seats with upgraded leather and suede upholstery. A limited-production Mach 1 model arrives later in the year with a massaged 4.6-liter V8 engine making at least 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, a functional shaker hood with ram-air scoop, black striping, unique leather seating and retro-design Magnum 500 alloy wheels, and, of course, a Mach 460 audio system. Mach 1 can be ordered in a variety of colors with either a manual or automatic transmission. Like the Mustang Bullitt before it, the Mach 1 comes with a lowered, retuned suspension and additional frame rail connectors for a stiffer body. Large 13-inch Brembo front rotors and upgraded calipers are standard.

Standard V6 and V8 GT models change little for 2003. A V6 Pony Package includes 16-inch polished alloy wheels and the GT's scooped hood. All V6 models get a new hood design, and four new colors debut.

Pros:
  • Available V8 power, variety of trim levels, healthy dose of American attitude.
Cons:
  • Archaic structure, aged design.

  • Best car ever !!! - 2003 Ford Mustang

Bought this car a year ago, and I love it! I put a cold air intake on it and since then the engine really sings (3,000rpm) and gets about 3 to 4 mpg better. Wouldnt trade my mustang for any other car way to much fun to drive. highly recommend it.

Bought this car in June 05 with 12k miles. Now has 115K miles. Mildly modded with CAI, exhaust, short shifter, MACH1 shocks, Ford C-Springs, white face gauges. Only repairs are front brake calipers (self-inflicted SCCA racing casualty) and alternator and battery...and four sets of tires. Consistently gets 25-26 mpg on highway. I want to get a new car but cant find anything that I like better than this one.

I actually have a 02 GT w/ a Cobra motor swap. This engine is powerful in the whole power band. Pushing 515RWHP 545RWT. Its not stock obviously, but still one of the best engines ever made in my opinion. And the fact its a Ford. I have drove this car across the nation to many car shows and drag strip. Never broke down.

The first new car I ever owned, no major complaints after 7 years. Glad I got the V8, awesome power and very fun to drive. Interior lacks some refinement and options that are standard in other vehicles, but probably not in this class.

  • Great Car! - 2003 Ford Mustang

Ive owned this car for 6 years. Never had any major mechanical problems. My passenger window has a short in it and it wont work in the summer time. I highly recommend this vehicle.

Oh yea - This car is a riot. I ran with the stock motor for about 6 months then had a custom tuned blown four valve motor installed. It cranks 630 RWHP. Looks like a stock GT. Needless to say I have a lot of fun leaving a lot of people in the dust.By the time they hear that supercharger whine they know they going to be looking at my tailights. How can you not love one of these cars. Rough and crude, pure American muscle.

I will never get another Ford. My gear shifter is broken, the top leaks, the light knob is super glued on, transmission is going out, the leather is tearing, passenger doesnt close right. I can keep going but Ill stop now. oh wait, did I mention it gets CRAPPY gas mileage.

Love my car but if you live anywhere it snows more than an inch get a winter car I get stuck every where I go when there is snow on the ground and I live in Buffalo NY so 7 months out of the year. I but this car brand new I love the way it looks and drives the clutch could be a little more friendly but other then that I think its a great car for anyone who likes a sporty fun to drive car

  • New Mach 1 - Good First Try - 2003 Ford Mustang
    By -

Great power and looks. I love driving this car. I would agree that the Mach 1000 sound system would be a good addition but the 460 is nice too. I usually drive with the stereo off so I can hear the throaty engine. Very disappointed in the CHEAP plastic they used for the interior though. Its as if they just ran out of money when designing the door panels, dash, and the center console. Ive had some initial problems and am still having them but all in all, the car is great.
