Overview & Reviews
GT models and base convertibles get new interior color options, and cars equipped with an automatic transmission get a thicker shift lever. New 17-inch aluminum wheels are optional on the GT. The Passive Anti-Theft System has been introduced to all 1997 Ford Mustangs.
- The 1997 Ford Mustang is a great looking car. The interior is a sports car masterpiece with large clear gauges, a great seating position, and clear views. The optional Mach 460 is one of the best on the market.

Big Car for the Money - 1997 Ford Mustang
By BlueSuedeJay - November 14 - 1:34 amMustang is a great car to work on. Upgrading performance is easy and very inexpensive. Eibach 2" lowering springs made it able to handle any turn at 60 miles per hour, for only $375 installed. The sound on these mustangs are unmistakeable, with a cheap 2 chamber flow master exhaust. Free up the ponies and let them ride. Its a sin to have a stock Mustang GT. Better all around compared to my 2002 Mercedes c230 kompressor. Wish I still had the Mustang.

A Fast Fun Daily Driver! - 1997 Ford Mustang
By The Extreme - May 30 - 2:00 amAlmost 7 years & over 142,000 miles later, I have no regrets. This car has never leaked oil - not even one single drop! It still runs strong and idles smoothly. In all those miles, the only major unexpected repair cost Ive had was a $300 mass air meter. In short, take care of a Mustang and it will take care of you. Mine sure has - I was blown away by the Mustangs reliability. Even my wife, Ford-hater she is, will concede on this one. I wanted a GT (still do), but the fun factor is still here, and in a car that has four seats (no matter the rear two are small). Im getting another car this summer... another Mustang!

Owner - 1997 Ford Mustang
By Trinidad Gutierrez - May 26 - 2:00 amLots of fun to drive! A great sports car feel for the customer on a budget. Poor leg and head room for back seat passengers.

JCs car - 1997 Ford Mustang
By JCH - May 10 - 2:00 amThe car doesnt eat that much gas and handles very well. Its built pretty strong, Ive already gone through a fence and all it did is leave a scratch on the paint. the only thing I dont like about the car is that I have a standard Mustang and it doesnt have that much power.

Love my Stang! - 1997 Ford Mustang
By JB Hoss - February 3 - 2:00 amThis car is a real head turner - and without any non-factory adjustments. Great styling, a comfortable ride, and reasonable fuel efficiency make this car a great package. The 6 cylinder is a little tame, but makes for an excellent cruiser to take on long trips - especially along the beach or other scenic areas. Once you go topless, its hard to go back!

GT Mustang Conv. - 1997 Ford Mustang
By stillman - October 22 - 2:00 amThis is a small car with a big car ride. Plenty of power. Fun to drive. Had a few things go bad A/C, trans, starter & alternator. Ford replaced trans. Other costs less than a $1,000.

The sports car thats built like a truck - 1997 Ford Mustang
By DaveSolt - July 18 - 2:00 am180,000 miles and never had it worked on! Its the car thats built like a truck! We do have an AC problem that developed around 2001, but other than that it has been rock solid with no maintenance other than oil changes and air filter.

not for up north - 1997 Ford Mustang
By erin - April 18 - 2:00 amI love it, its my baby. Although I recommend that if you live up north in the snow do NOT by this car unless you want frequent heart attacks. It slides and is uncontrollable. Its also skids a lot in the rain so be careful. Definitely a car meant for sunny days. Found rust starting to build in cars structure. Fun to drive though during the summer.

Its a good car - 1997 Ford Mustang
By texasstang - February 21 - 2:00 amI purchased my mustang in 1999 used with only 7000 miles on it. Since I have put about 90000 miles on it. It has been a good car overall with a few problems. I am now on my third intake manifold but this problem is covered under recall for the next 7 years! I also go through tires on an annual basis, but with a Z rated tire that is bound to happen. I get about 18mpg around town and 22mpg on the highway.
