This Year's Model Updates:

2001 Ford Mustang GT models get unique hood and side scoops, so that you can tell 'em apart from V6 models. They also receive standard 17-inch wheels, and V6 Convertibles get 16-inch wheels as standard. All cars have a revised center console and blacked-out headlights and spoilers. The Mach 460 stereo system comes with an in-dash six-disc CD changer. A new "premium" trim line is created for both V6 and V8 models. After a one-year hiatus, the Ford SVT Mustang Cobra returns for 2001.

Pros:
  • Strong V8 power, competent chassis and brakes, good crash test scores, ragtop option.
Cons:
  • Solid rear axle, dorky-looking fake hood and side scoops, poor stereo ergonomics.

Other than Idling a little rough, this car gives a lot of bang for the buck. 260Hp V8, is plenty of power for most people.

I just bought this car, and I couldnt be happier! I had a 2003 Matrix, and it had no power, now I know what its like to have a real car.

  • After 33,000 miles still a blast - 2001 Ford Mustang

Bought the Bullitt new and after 33,000 miles, daily driver, it is still a blast to drive. Had the AC compressor changed out under warranty for leaking internally, EGR sensor went out when new. Other than that it has been great. 22mpg combined 26mpg highway. Would do it all over again in a heart beat.

I have heard a lot of negative things when I first purchased this car, but ALL have proved false. The car has been flawless and I have had nothing but fun with it. I drive VERY hard so the car does get used. Driven in winter also with NO problems due to the new features of traction control and anti lock brakes. I will buy this car again as a newer version.

This is one fun car to drive, with great looks. Paint is flawless, with great fit and finish. Reliability has been excellent. I was fortunate to own one of the 5582 produced.

  • 3.8...Who says they arent fast - 2001 Ford Mustang

GM can have all the horsepower they want but in reality they arent that much faster if faster at all and dont turn half as many heads as the Mustangs. As for V6s go the Mustang base coupe is more affordible and faster anyway than a GM base coupe.(I proved that today on the street when I smoked a Camaro V6;same year and same mods)The other nice fact is that there are way more performance parts out there for V6 Mustangs than the GM 6s. The Mustang is definately a good buy and a sure way to go.

Solid feeling car, no squeaks or rattles yet, more of an "axe" feel than "stilletto" - if this car had a chest, itd be wide and hairy.

Independent rear suspension makes all the difference. Turns heads and perks- up ears. Makes me smile just seeing it in my garage.

Very fun car to drive, especially with the top down. Good low end power, very sharp handling. Steering response is crisp and precise. Road noise with top up is less than expected. This is a fun car for a long drive, a Sunday cruise with the top down, or a daily commute to work.
