The 2005 Ford Mustang is completely redesigned.

Pros:
  • Solid V8 power in GT models, about as well mannered as a solid axle suspension can get, slick retro interior, much improved cabin ergonomics.
Cons:
  • No side curtain airbags or stability control, seats could use more lateral support.

Ive owned 9 mustangs since 66 including 3 Cobras. The 2005 Mustang GT is a great car. Excellent performance, roomy front seat, nice exhaust sound and the car is great to look at both inside and out. If you are thinking about getting one do not hesitate.

The Mustang GT has a powerful v8 and positive handling in turns. It feels great and gets a lot of head turning from spectators on the highways. It is still exciting to drive even after 5 months of ownership.

  • Gotta Love It! - 2005 Ford Mustang

My first car was a 1972 Mustang Mach 1 and I have been searching for a comparable vehicle ever since. Ford has done what I thought couldnt be done...the new 2005 Mustang GT delivers. It delivers power, styling and handling making this an extremely fun car to drive. The interior room has been vastly improved with the move to the Lincoln LS platform. Lots more headroom, though the back seat is really still only there for insurance purposes. As for handling - flat in curves and feels tight. The power is incredible. A real dream machine; best buy I ever made.

Ive been buying Mustang GTs since 1984. This is by far the best one yet. Its the kind of car that just doesnt get you from point A to point B without a lot of fun. Since Im creeping up on 40 I figured this would be my mid-life crisis vehicle.

  • What a Disappointment - 2005 Ford Mustang

I bought this V6 5 speed as a replacement for a 2002 V6 5 speed that I really love. (I still have the 2002, now driven by my son.) The 05 is a huge disappointment: the drive train constantly knocks, clunks, growls, and whines. (The 02 does none of this). The dealer agreed that it is bad; replaced the transmission with no improvement, and now tells me its normal and Ill just have to live with it. Maybe the automatics are better, but DO NOT buy this car with a manual transmission unless you like lots of noise.

I havent liked one Mustang style since the 69 (which was my high school car). Saw the 05 GT Premium, drove it, bought it. Great car for the money. Plenty of power, rides nice, excellent cornering, great sound system inside and out. I average. about 19mpg (a lot in town) which I think is incredible for 300 hp! Mine is torch red, red leather, IUPs, automatic and FAST! Some of the reviews show disapointment - get real. This is a 300 hp car that looks awesome and is worth every penny! Buy one, you wont be disappointed!

Having a hard time putting gas in the tank. It takes about 15 minutes to put gas in the car. It will only go in at very slow speed, like in between off and start.

  • Very Disappointed - 2005 Ford Mustang

I bought my 2005 Mustang in Dec 2004 and it has been driven very little to this date. I have approximately 800 miles on this vehicle and it been to the service department four times already (with another trip to be scheduled). I must say that as excited as I was about purchasing this car, I am now starting to have serious reservations about my decision. I have had problems with the heating & cooling system, the car wouldnt go in reverse, the stereo had to be replaced (Shaker 500), vibration in front end, and several other minor issues. I believe for the price you have to pay (usually over sticker price), Ford should have placed more emphasis on quality rather than looks alone.

Just traded in a 2000 Mustang convertible for a new V6 convertible with 5-speed automatic. and several accessory packages. WOW, what a difference. This actually drives and handles well; no slop anymore. Looks lean and I like the mineral color. Superior inside room. Mustang is BACK! This is my 6th Mustang convertible and by far the best. Drives as nice as my 2-year Mazda6 V6 with 5-speed stick.
