This Year's Model Updates:

The 2005 Ford Mustang is completely redesigned.

Pros:
  • Solid V8 power in GT models, about as well mannered as a solid axle suspension can get, slick retro interior, much improved cabin ergonomics.
Cons:
  • No side curtain airbags or stability control, seats could use more lateral support.

  • Gotta Love It! - 2005 Ford Mustang

My first car was a 1972 Mustang Mach 1 and I have been searching for a comparable vehicle ever since. Ford has done what I thought couldnt be done...the new 2005 Mustang GT delivers. It delivers power, styling and handling making this an extremely fun car to drive. The interior room has been vastly improved with the move to the Lincoln LS platform. Lots more headroom, though the back seat is really still only there for insurance purposes. As for handling - flat in curves and feels tight. The power is incredible. A real dream machine; best buy I ever made.

Ive been buying Mustang GTs since 1984. This is by far the best one yet. Its the kind of car that just doesnt get you from point A to point B without a lot of fun. Since Im creeping up on 40 I figured this would be my mid-life crisis vehicle.

  • Mustang is Finally Back - 2005 Ford Mustang

I havent liked one Mustang style since the 69 (which was my high school car). Saw the 05 GT Premium, drove it, bought it. Great car for the money. Plenty of power, rides nice, excellent cornering, great sound system inside and out. I average. about 19mpg (a lot in town) which I think is incredible for 300 hp! Mine is torch red, red leather, IUPs, automatic and FAST! Some of the reviews show disapointment - get real. This is a 300 hp car that looks awesome and is worth every penny! Buy one, you wont be disappointed!

  • Not my old Mustang - 2005 Ford Mustang

Just traded in a 2000 Mustang convertible for a new V6 convertible with 5-speed automatic. and several accessory packages. WOW, what a difference. This actually drives and handles well; no slop anymore. Looks lean and I like the mineral color. Superior inside room. Mustang is BACK! This is my 6th Mustang convertible and by far the best. Drives as nice as my 2-year Mazda6 V6 with 5-speed stick.

My first convertible! Coming from an SUV I worried about driving a car. This is fun, fun, fun. Love the retro look inside and out. Although I downsized it is roomier than expected. I can pack up for the beach in no time. Good pick up, glides through traffic, even in the rain.

  • With Gas Prices Go For The V6 - 2005 Ford Mustang

Before purchasing a manual make sure to test drive both automatic and manual and see and feel the difference. I test-drove the manual and found that because of the small windows it increases the blind spots. I ended up buying the automatic and havent regretted it yet.

The 05 Mustang is everything promised. Handles great, acceleration is terrific, very comfortable interior. Two good size guys fit in the front seats with space between us ! Rear seat is tight, great for kids. Sound system is very good (Shaker 500 ). CD player a little shaky. Warnings about Mustang being sloppy on wet roads and snow were exaggerated. Traction control a big help. This car turns a lot of heads as it passes. Combination of looks (mine is black w/ upgraded red interior & dash) and sound as you hit the gas. First car in 20 years that Ill keep.

  • Late-Life Crisis... - 2005 Ford Mustang

My 5th Mustang since 85, two of which were GTs and two were Cobras; now this one. Mine is the automatic, tan interior with Legend Lime body color. I remember April of 1964 and the unveiling of the new "pony car". $2,400 and it was yours. 41 years and an additional $28K brings me the freshened 05 iteration. Time and prices have changed but this new version of a well loved nameplate gives us "boomers" an opportunity to recapture a bit of our "free love and go fast" attitudes long lost in the fury of modern living. The Ford finally did it right; went back to basics and restored the visuals and added some topnotch engineering. The car is fun to drive and look at!

This is the first sports car I found that I can fit into being 67". I could drive it long distances without being cramped.
