This Year's Model Updates:

The new model year brings a handful of changes for the Mustang. V6 models can now get the Pony Package, which includes an upgraded suspension with larger stabilizer bars, 17-inch wheels, ABS, traction control, foglamps and unique trim. The GT gains two additional wheel options, both 18 inches in size, complemented by unique suspension tuning. An additional darker aluminum interior trim upgrade package is now available.

Pros:
  • Solid V8 power in GT models, about as well mannered as a car with a solid-axle rear suspension can get, slick retro interior, good cabin ergonomics.
Cons:
  • No side curtain airbags or stability control, seats could use more lateral support, low-grade interior plastics.

  • Clutch--watch out - 2006 Ford Mustang

I might warn any one who has purchased an 06 GT 5 Speed manual to watch the clutch. I gear down a lot, and with only 1,500 miles on it the clutch is already starting to chatter. Back to the dealer. Other than that a fine ride.

Best Mustang ever. I love the styling even better than the Shelby GT500. Handling, ride and acceleration is outstanding. Interior is easy to maintain, comfortable and fits the character of the car. It avoids the "Tokyo by Night" over abundance of electronic doo-dads that distract from a true drivers car.

On my first long trip from Yukon, Oklahoma to Albuquerque, New Mexico I was pleasantly surprised at the great gas mileage I got from my Mustang. The seats were very comfortable on this long ride.

  • I Love This Car - 2006 Ford Mustang

I have only had this car for about 2 months, but I am already in love. I traded in my V6 2000 Mustang and I upgraded to the V8 2006 GT. This was a great decision. The car rides comfortably and looks amazing. Not only does the car attract a lot of attention, it makes people turn around when I start her up. I am very pleased with my purchase!

This car has been an absolute dream to own and drive. For a woman who has always loved Mustangs, this is possibly a perfect match. The handling is great for cruising, it really hugs the curves. All 300 horses, given the room to run, performs wonderfully. For people who love to listen to tunes, the system cant be beat.

I finally got the car I always wanted and couldnt be happier. This car turns heads wherever it goes and never fails to excite. It is a great daily driver but when you push the go pedal it pushes you back into your seat above 4 grand in a very nice continuous power band up till about 5000rpm before redline; even at 6000 ft in Colorado this car pulls nicely. The $4000 buck premium for the convertible is well worth it - the very well made rag top goes up and down fairly quickly and when up holds out the road noise pretty nicely. I highly recommend this vehicle for people that want a whole heck of a lot of fun for a very reasonable price.

  • Just plain fun - 2006 Ford Mustang

I have a 06 GT Mustang, use it on weekends and its a ball to drive. Handles well, dont really like the fly by wire throttle, it just feels slow to operate and slow to close when shifting. I had the dealership lower the car and install 18 inch cobra wheels; it made the car handled a lot better, plus gave it more the racecar look. I think Ford made a hit with the retro looks and the larger track. Im overall very happy with it and think anyone thinking on getting a sporty new car should go test drive the Mustang. The car will sell itself.

  • try it- youll like it :) - 2006 Ford Mustang

Ive had quite a few cars since 1980, but nothing even close to this much fun. ONLY dislikes are the seats need readjusting every time kids get in/out, most of them have fuel fill issues sooner or later - mine hasnt burped gas on me since the second fill up though, and its hard to powershift into third- it will barkem though if you get it right. :) Ride is firm, but dont beat you up like my 85 Camaro used to, power is excellent for such a small V8, brakes are incredible. Give the exhaust note a "A+" too. Drive by wire can be quirky, but recalibrating just requires turning key on, waiting for lights to go out, floor it, release, shutoff key. Test drive a GT stick - dare ya not to buy it.

Having grown up with the Mustang, I fell in love again with this one. Of course I wanted certain things and when my husband called me to say my car was on the lot, I was in heaven. I told him to get a salesman to slap a sold sticker on it, I was getting a check. Pony package a must and of course it had to have a stick. No fun driving a pony unless I can control it. Its a V6 4.0, and moves. Gas mileage is good. Cant believe Ive had it a year already. No, its not a mid-life crisis, just the car Ive always dreamed about, that I finally have. Would recommend this car to anyone.
