The 2005 Ford Mustang is completely redesigned.

Pros:
  • Solid V8 power in GT models, about as well mannered as a solid axle suspension can get, slick retro interior, much improved cabin ergonomics.
Cons:
  • No side curtain airbags or stability control, seats could use more lateral support.

I have people stop me all the time with questions about my car. Ive wanted THIS Mustang since 1969, and couldnt be happier with it. The only negatives I can think of would be the front seat headrests. Could have been designed to be more comfortable, I think. And I have a 5-speed and I think someone with longer arms would have trouble shifting comfortably, especially if they had something in the cupholder. Everything else is perfection!

The car overall is fabulous. The only sticking point is the radio (Shaker 500) and the heater control unit. Ive had 4 radios in the car and it still doesnt work correctly. The heater control unit pumps air through the defrost and feet even when it isnt on. Fords response? Tell the customer thats how it is supposed to work. Thats simple irresponsible to say. My service manager allowed me to hear that on a phone call to Ford. Unbelievable. Shame on Ford for that. Now that doesnt mean I dislike the car, its fabulous and a blast to drive. Just hate the company for thinking so little of their loyal customers.

I bought my first Mustang in 1970 when I returned from overseas duty with the U.S.Navy . It was a 1968 model. I have owned Mustangs ever since. I must admit that this is the finest Mustang that has ever been produced . The acceleration is outstanding and the handling is superb . The styling is what sold me on this car. It brought back fond memories to me and my wife of 34 years.

The 2005 Mustang GT surpasses my other five Mustang purchases -- all GTs. From the moment it is placed in drive, the responsiveness is unparalleled. Handling is superb although the ride is a bit rough. The body workmanship is noticeably well done, e.g., no gaps or ripples and everything fits well. The downside are the front seats, i.e., the head rests are too far forward causing both a pain in the neck and a back ache when driving for any distance. While the seat is adjustable in virtually every direction it could move, no setting produces a comfortable ride -- the headrest is not adjustable. Still, for the price, its probably the best sports buy of the American market.

I got my convertible Mustang as a graduation gift and I love it. It rides wonderfully and the wind noise is not bad at all. With the top down my hair doesnt fly completely out of control. The windshield blocks most of the wind. my only complaint is the itty bitty back seat leg room. But I dont ride back there so I dont care!

After searching through two states just picked up my black on black GT. If all I could take from this buy was the feeling of the first 15 minutes of driving this machine it would be worth it. Even paying MSRP the GT is a bargain. You can talk about the power and handling but it really comes down to how this car makes you feel when you are in it. Great job Ford.

  • V-6 better deal - 2005 Ford Mustang

Customer service is a 2. All this talk about the V8 being so great ... well I test drove it and thought it was too masculine and loud for a females taste! In addition, I requested to exchange a hood with no spoiler. I love the new design of the Ford Mustang with its smooth lines .... without the spoiler and the fog lights (gag - gag and gag.) This look is the "real" Mustang." Love the Windveil blue. Best idea is to purchase the car with cloth seats and then upgrade leather at dealers cost - only $1163.00

  • Ford stole me away from chevy - 2005 Ford Mustang

I owned numerous chevys, including a 2004 Z06, but the mustang is an amazing car. I ended up trading my z06 in on it. I know the z was faster, but the retro feel of the car took me back to my child hood and reminded me of why I love cars. I just hope chevy learns from them and comes back with a camaro to compete. Thank you ford.

  • Worked three summers for it, best first car ever!! - 2005 Ford Mustang

Not for the faint of heart. A red convertible mustang (even ten years old now) still draws quite the attention. Mine is a cop magnet, whenever I even consider revving the engine I know they are waiting around the corner for the next youngster in a red car. By todays standards a 200+ horsepower pony car is by no means american muscle, but nothing beats hitting interstate speeds in under 6 seconds with the top down. Pros: the ride is amazing, Im used to riding bikes and being able to feel the road. Last year I made a deal with a guy, he was putting radials on his new gt and sold me his brand-new 2013 gt rims and his Perreli-nero-zeros for 300 bucks. Thus I have a nicer car then 95% of the people in town. Its a source of freedom and pride haha. But when I park somewhere everybody knows its me. Black leather interior, black roof (the fancy vinyl-ish kind, not the cloth top), and of course, the exclusive red sally paint job. Cons: The air conditioning can barely keep up with the heat of two passengers on a hot sunny day (105 degrees), but thats to be expected with a black topped car. Also, the engine is limited in fourth gear. Ruins my fun. But then again theres no need to even be in fourth gear under 85 miles per hour.

  • Great! - 2005 Ford Mustang

I used to own a 1968 Mustang coupe so this is a big step up. I was never really a fan of the modern day Mustang but this one captures the styling of the old with the reliability of the new. First off the car looks awesome, a real throw back to the muscle cars of the 60s. It also drives great. The engine sound sgood from inside the car but not overpowering, the handling is good; a little stiff but overall good. The ride is smooth and comfortable. I love this car and recommend it to any muscle car lover.
