Overview & Reviews
The 2005 Ford Mustang is completely redesigned.
- Solid V8 power in GT models, about as well mannered as a solid axle suspension can get, slick retro interior, much improved cabin ergonomics.
- No side curtain airbags or stability control, seats could use more lateral support.

Great Fun Factor - 2005 Ford Mustang
By pony_pirate - November 20 - 5:24 amThe first car Ive actually loved to own and drive. Lots of torque over a broad range of RPMs. Great fun to drive. Responsive steering, tight turning ratio. Fast gearbox. Gut-satisfying rumble. Beautiful to look at, fine styling inside and out. A street machine built for the straightaways, rather than a sports car built for the curves (rolls a bit). Rear single-axle bounces on bumps. Surprisingly civilized ride. Comfortable drivers seat, so-so passengers seat, cramped back seats. Good but not great stereo. Cut to a price point, with some lack of amenities and space, such as small trunk and glove compartment, limited storage spaces inside. Interior upgrade a must. Recommend side air bag.

Transmission Blues - 2005 Ford Mustang
By RJ Spencer - November 11 - 1:59 pmThis Mustang was made on 04 April and arrived on 22 April. Two major problems one being the gas tank and error message. A new sensor has been added to the gas tank but the problem still exists with the gauge showing 1/2 tank when the tank in full. The second problem is the transmission slipping into neutral for about a second lately while the shifter is in drive, then bumping into gear. Transmission is being replaced under warranty.

Road Trip 2005 - 2005 Ford Mustang
By Howard - November 7 - 6:06 amAt 61 years old and recently a widower, I asked my children if they thought I was going through a second childhood since I was considering purchasing a new Mustang GT convertible. They all said if thats what you want, go for it. I did. I had planned a trip to Las Vegas and decided to extend the trip and drive. I made a two week trip covering 5500 miles from Georgia to California averaging 23.5 mpg and drove over 1000 miles on two different days. The weather was great, the car performed flawlessly, and the ride was very comfortable. This car is not the fastest or most expensive on the road, but dollar for dollar is a fantastic value and a super performer. Im looking forward to the GT500.

Not as Good as People Think - 2005 Ford Mustang
By classicfindz - November 5 - 3:05 pmEveryone gets excited when they see the new Ford Mustang. It has a gorgeous body style, but to me, that is it. It gets poor gas mileage. Diagnostic says 21 mpg, I only get 12-15. A number of problems which Ford keeps saying "normal characteristics", which another dealer will say differently. The gas tank has been replaced twice and I still have problems filling it up and they refuse to put in a third tank, but technically, I have had three different gas tanks in the car.

Perfection! - 2005 Ford Mustang
By Dave Herbert - October 30 - 1:46 amI traded up from a 1994 Mustang 5.0. What a drastic difference in performance, comfort and styling. Every day I catch people staring at my vehicle. The Shaker 1000 stereo system sounds better than my home stereo.

2005 MUSTANG IS HOT! - 2005 Ford Mustang
By SDmustang - October 14 - 7:26 pmI love this car. It makes you feel like a "movie star." From the police to little kids and "big kids" turn their heads. It truly is a fun car that can zip around town and make you feel like you dont want to get out. We have driven 700 miles in it in 2 weeks! We now want a convertible and the coupe. Go for it and take the highway. And watch others dream about your car. :)

Nice car, but... - 2005 Ford Mustang
By 05V6 - September 22 - 1:40 pmI quess it is the same with all new models. This Mustang is anice car, but it has a few minor prolems. The V6 model exhibits a minor harmonic buzz at just about 1500 RPM, it can be heard and felt. Also the steering is on the heavy side in this car, it takes some effort to keep it tracking straight. The Engine has a momentary loss of power, this can be best described as a hickup, it happens usually when accelerating from a stop. It is anoying to say the least, but it is very intermittant in nature. We are going to have the dealer take a look at it, but I doubt the hickcup is within their realm to fix. It will propably take a computer program change to fix it.The rest of the car is excellent.
