Overview & Reviews
The 2005 Ford Mustang is completely redesigned.
- Solid V8 power in GT models, about as well mannered as a solid axle suspension can get, slick retro interior, much improved cabin ergonomics.
- No side curtain airbags or stability control, seats could use more lateral support.

fun car! - 2005 Ford Mustang
By banshee - April 29 - 9:44 pmI traded my v-8 stang for the more economical v-6. I enjoy driving this car as I am on the interstate every day going to work. I miss the sound of my v-8, but I definitely dont miss the premium gas or gas mileage it got. The 2005 is very good on gas, and of course, a Mustang is not a Mustang if its an automatic. Therefore, I can still squeal the tires in this 5 speed if I have to! I wouldnt have it any other way. I dont race anyone in this car, hence the much better gas mileage, but at 30 mpg, Id say my little red stang keeps up with them foreign cars in that area. As for the look of the car, its absolutely beautiful, and makes me feel good driving it!

Tims Toy - 2005 Ford Mustang
By Tim S - April 27 - 9:43 amAfter reading everything I could find online and elsewhere, I figured Id wait a couple years before getting one. I was raised on Chevy 350 V-8s. I switched to FWD MAZDA 323s and Proteges. In February of this year, I went to get an estimate on my 60,000 mile service and replace my timing belt and hoses to keep my extended warranty intact. Talk about sticker shock, over $1,100 estimate with labor. I used my X-plan discount thru work and returned to RWD with no regrets. I am quite impressed with this V6, roughly 18 mpg city, tight as a drum and makes me feel like a kid again. I dont have the anti-lock brakes/traction control but have had no problems at all in rain or snow.

Lousy Interior - 2005 Ford Mustang
By Scott - April 25 - 5:46 amThe cars unbelievably powerful. And it looks great. But in typical Mustang design, the interior is cheap, plastic and does not hold the promise of durability. Theres an obnoxious seam across the top of the auto shifter. The rear passenger leather seat is missing stitching in three seams. The lever to move the seat back scratches and digs into the side panel. So the car will do 0-60 in less than 5 seconds. Thats great, but the interior design and quality ... horrible.

My New 05 Mustang love affair - 2005 Ford Mustang
By Jack Parker - April 12 - 1:40 amThis is my first new car since 1983 and it was worth the wait. Ford really got it right. Great performance, great fun, looks, personality and value. Two GTs for one Corvette. I love Corvettes but I just cant pass this Mustang by. I like the fold down back seats. Just cant find much to fault anywhere.

Great Car for the money - 2005 Ford Mustang
By ecgirard2 - April 9 - 10:33 amOverall this has been a very good car. The build quality is great and the car performs very well. The issues that I have had have been small and are not unexpected with a new car. The only issue I have had has been the check engine light came on twice at once at about 600 and 1,000 miles. The dealership kept the car for about a week each time to diagnose the issue. I am not entirely sure how they fixed the issue but I have not had it reoccur in the past 2,000 miles.

what a ride - 2005 Ford Mustang
By kate - March 28 - 10:07 pmI went from an SUV to the Mustang and I thought I would regret the size change but let me just tell you this. WHAT A RIDE. I have no regrets and think it is the best car I could have ever bought. It handles like a true sports car should. Want to let your hair down and have a great ride. Get a Mustang.

Fun Car - 2005 Ford Mustang
By Barry - March 10 - 9:55 amThis is one of the best looking cars at any price. It has been flawless. Factory stereos could be better, but I do like the MP3 option. Lots of thumbs up and positive comments about this car. I have the GT with the 5 speed auto. Ive never driven a car that was such a blast to simply drive! Gas mileage is not too bad on the highway, but in stop and go conditions it drops down pretty quickly, 24 mpg highway, 16.5 mpg around town, but I drive with a heavy-ish foot -- with this car its hard not to. I would buy another without a second thought, way to go Ford!

Mustang somewhat disappointing - 2005 Ford Mustang
By jjkjrii - March 9 - 2:12 pmMy wife and I both have 2005 mustangs and both have some of the same problems. Both cd players skip and will not play the cd at times. Both had to have rear windows replaced because they distorted the view out of them. Both have a harmonic vibration in the exhaust system that ford has no fix for it, the one that I drive has a noisy rear end {gear noise}. So much for improving quality. Ford seems to think sell cars the heck with quality.
