This Year's Model Updates:

Heavily updated is the 2003 SVT Mustang Cobra, which makes 390 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque thanks to the addition of an Eaton supercharger. A new six-speed manual transmission drives the rear wheels through a 3.55 rear axle ratio. Larger wheels and tires come standard, along with stiffer springs and a tubular cross brace. Cobra convertibles have a cloth top, while both cars get new seats with upgraded leather and suede upholstery. A limited-production Mach 1 model arrives later in the year with a massaged 4.6-liter V8 engine making at least 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, a functional shaker hood with ram-air scoop, black striping, unique leather seating and retro-design Magnum 500 alloy wheels, and, of course, a Mach 460 audio system. Mach 1 can be ordered in a variety of colors with either a manual or automatic transmission. Like the Mustang Bullitt before it, the Mach 1 comes with a lowered, retuned suspension and additional frame rail connectors for a stiffer body. Large 13-inch Brembo front rotors and upgraded calipers are standard.

Standard V6 and V8 GT models change little for 2003. A V6 Pony Package includes 16-inch polished alloy wheels and the GT's scooped hood. All V6 models get a new hood design, and four new colors debut.

Pros:
  • Available V8 power, variety of trim levels, healthy dose of American attitude.
Cons:
  • Archaic structure, aged design.

  • The one to buy in 03 - 2003 Ford Mustang

Ive owned several mustangs over the years and like most have been in most other sports/gt cars. The SVT team has outdone themselves this time. Not the easiest to drive at first as the clutch is very heavy and the stick a bit tricky - especially from 2nd to 3rd. Nothing a few more reps in the gym wont cure. This car is a looker, a performer and far and away the best bang-for-your- buck there is. My only complaint - I lost a side scoop one week after buying it...but ford replaced it in a week. They are attached with cheap - and i mean cheap - plastic slots.

I cant think of a better version of the car to end the sn95 chassis with. Its the only car that I still have a big grin on after I get out. Handles excellent on the auto-x track and is killer in the 1/4 mi.

Great performance, excellent sound w/ Mach 1000. Car is smooth. Reccomend upgrades: Premium package, Mach 1000. This is my 4th Mustang and it blows the others away in every way.

The Cobra can be just another car or step on the hammer and take off like a rocket. It even sounds like one (Supercharger).Dont waste time comparing it to another car. The 03 Cobras top speed is governed at 155mph (170+ w/out it). Compare it to a Cessna: seats 4 & it does 160mph...on land. Cobras traction control switch is fun.Keep it on and it behaves somewhat civilized. Turn it off and wheels spin, smoke comes out of the tires. Also a locking differential (if wheel spins torque is sent to the wheel w traction). The snake unlike a roadster lets you take the kids/dog along for a ride. And taking rides you will:To go get bread or milk (next town over)

It is the fastest Mustang ever built, first production car stock with Iniglo gauges, has the loudest optional stereo system ever(Mach 1000) and It lookes totally awesome! What else could you want for only 38k. Which is nothing compared a $55,000 Z06 Corvette. And I only have 3000 miles on it cause I had to store it for the winter :-(

Handles like its on rails. The Independant rear suspension makes all the difference in the world when it comes to the corners at 100mph plus speeds on the track. We wouldnt even think of driving it at that speed around town. . Fit and finish very good for a Ford mustang. Engine a trans (6 speed) work a lot better with aftermarket shifter. $159.00 upgrade. Well worth the money spent.

It seems to me that the only time someone does not love this car is if they know someone who drives one that is a total jerk. These cars are just great! They have the perfect balance of speed, comfort, cost, and practicality. Some people are all about the Imports, but you have to spend extra to modify them for them to be as cool. Mustang are that way at birth!

This is my first Mustang, and I must admit that it is fun to drive. I purchased the Mustang last Saturday, and it has the interior upgrade package, 17" wheel upgrade, and the Mach 460 sound system and I enjoy driving it. Now I am looking at possible enhancements.
