This Year's Model Updates:

2001 Ford Mustang GT models get unique hood and side scoops, so that you can tell 'em apart from V6 models. They also receive standard 17-inch wheels, and V6 Convertibles get 16-inch wheels as standard. All cars have a revised center console and blacked-out headlights and spoilers. The Mach 460 stereo system comes with an in-dash six-disc CD changer. A new "premium" trim line is created for both V6 and V8 models. After a one-year hiatus, the Ford SVT Mustang Cobra returns for 2001.

Pros:
  • Strong V8 power, competent chassis and brakes, good crash test scores, ragtop option.
Cons:
  • Solid rear axle, dorky-looking fake hood and side scoops, poor stereo ergonomics.

  • 2001 V6 / 5 Spd Coupe... - 2001 Ford Mustang

My 2001 Laser Red Mustang has been nothing but fun. A sporty ride yet very solid. Speaking of solid I like the solid rear axle as well as the rear wheel drive. Knock on wood the car has been very dependable once a couple of warranty issues were worked out (diff.,clutch). Dealing with Ford is no picnic but the car is worth it.

  • Ford almost hit the mark! - 2001 Ford Mustang

Transmission problems, grind 1-2 shift and 3-4 shift when cold. CDs sticking in 6 disc player. Water leaks around windows(convertable). Premature carpet wear around accelerator pedal. Poor traction under hard acceleration (wheel hop). It seems that Ford chose to put a light duty transmission behind a 320 HP engine. Overall poor quality for a vehicle costing close to 35,000.00 dollars. Very little dealer support in addressing the problems. Traded it in for a 50th Anniversary Vette. Ill rate that after I drive it for a while.

  • I love my 2001 Bullitt Mustang - 2001 Ford Mustang

The Bullitt mustang is a special car. I like the sleek understated looks. The factory Bullitt rims are awesome. The car handles good! Yeah I know its a mustang but it handles good, has a good ride quality and makes a good daily driver. The interior is cool and the factory shifter is great. Power is decent, I have no complaints. Brakes are also an upgrade from the stock 2001 Gt brakes. Could use a little louder exhaust. The car weighs about 3350 pounds which is light by todays 2016 standards and it feels light and nimble. The steering has better feel than my Boss 302. It has been a very reliable car for me. Get one while you can. Its going to be a collectible.

  • Creepers Short Take - 2001 Ford Mustang

The Mustang is a stylish ride that looks good and is mechanically sound. However, as happy as I am with my car, there are just a couple of things that I could be happier about. First of all, I purchased the 2.8L V6 STD Coupe and wish I had purchased the GT. The power level is fine for a 6-cyclinder, but the feeling you get from driving a mustang demands a feeling of power that just isnt there with the V6. But the look that you like so much now continues to grow on you. I love it. Mechanically the car is solid and fun to drive. Best of all, it looks great in your garage.

  • 18 AGAIN! - 2001 Ford Mustang
    By -

Ordered my baby in July 2001 and didnt take delivery until November. WORTH THE WAIT! Have had more fun with this little car. When I get in it, Im 18 again - heads are turning - cant even count how many compliments Ive had. White w/black stripes and charcoal leather interior - two years old and I love her as much as the day I brought her home. Only has needed routine maintenance. I actually think Ill keep her past the time shes paid for!

  • A true Review of the 2001 Mustang GT - 2001 Ford Mustang

From the first turn of the key you will love this car. This is a car that will make you excited to drive around for no reason. Interior: Well the interior is average, but well designed. The Leather seats are quite nice and fitting but a little low on support for tall people. The controls are a little too far away from the driver. EXTERIOR: What can i say, if people dont notice your mustang then they are blind or just a jealous and scourned Camaro fan. I have gotten complements from bleeding heart camaro fans on my mustang. OVERALL if you want to have fun driving, love the sound and power of a V8 engine then this is you. Good luck in your Mustang Travels

  • Bullit lives up to its name - 2001 Ford Mustang

I purchased this Bullitt as an impulse buy, although I had been interested in it since it debuted as a concept car. I got #4942, Dark Highland Green, for a good price w/rebate and 0.9% Financing. The Bullitt is a great driving car - a real attitude adjuster that I take out only in nice weather, once a week or less. I have little to complain about the car. I mostly enjoy the wonderful exhaust note and well spaced transmission ratios. The factory modified 4.6L V8 is underated at 265 HP - published dyno tests suggest 270-280 HP. I have driven the same year regular Mustang GT, and this car is better in almost every category.

  • Yellow GT - 2001 Ford Mustang
    By -

This car is fun to drive and it gets a lot of attention. It is Zinc Yellow and is a beauty. It runs like a Mustang GT should. It has all the power you would ever need to drive on the highways of the good ol USA. I love it!!!!!!!

  • 01 Mustang is a blast! - 2001 Ford Mustang
    By -

Ive had my Mustang for about 9 months, and have been extremely pleased by it so far. The V6 is plenty of power for such a small car, and I typically get 27 miles per gallon. I drive alot, and this car has been across several states, yet I have not ever been stiff after a long trip. There is not a thing that I would change about the front seats. Dont buy this car if you intend to routinely carry more than one passenger. There is NO room in the back for an adult. Overall, I am happier every day with my purchase.

  • Best Car Ive EVER Owned - 2001 Ford Mustang
    By -

First off let it be know Im a Firebird guy through and through. I was looking for a Trans Am back in 2006, but didnt find one at a price I was happy with. Lo and behold I spotted my little gem of a GT for sale at a new car dealer. Hands down it is the best car Ive ever owned as far as reliability. The only things Ive replaced in almost 10 years of ownership has been, the infamous intake manifold, (Ford corrected this defect in 2002 I believe) fuel pump, alternator, brakes, serpentine belt, radio (The Ford CD-6 players are CRAP) along with routine maintenance. Ive also replaced both headlamps due to delamination. Power windows still going strong, and Ive never even had to replace a bulb or fuse in this thing! Its not as fast or sexy as a Trans AM, but its way cheaper to maintain, and light years more reliable. Kind of the the girlfriend who would never cheat on you, and has dinner ready and waiting every night when you get home, while the Trans Am is out at the club.
