This Year's Model Updates:

The 2005 Ford Mustang is completely redesigned.

Pros:
  • Solid V8 power in GT models, about as well mannered as a solid axle suspension can get, slick retro interior, much improved cabin ergonomics.
Cons:
  • No side curtain airbags or stability control, seats could use more lateral support.

I love the new body style! I knew as soon as I saw the new body style before they even were in production I had to have one. I have owned a 79 and 81 Mustang, they do not even compare to my 05. I have had some minor issues such as CD player replacement and drivers side door handle problems but those were taken care of pronto. I do not plan to get rid of this car. I am very happy with my purchase.

I traded my v-8 stang for the more economical v-6. I enjoy driving this car as I am on the interstate every day going to work. I miss the sound of my v-8, but I definitely dont miss the premium gas or gas mileage it got. The 2005 is very good on gas, and of course, a Mustang is not a Mustang if its an automatic. Therefore, I can still squeal the tires in this 5 speed if I have to! I wouldnt have it any other way. I dont race anyone in this car, hence the much better gas mileage, but at 30 mpg, Id say my little red stang keeps up with them foreign cars in that area. As for the look of the car, its absolutely beautiful, and makes me feel good driving it!

After reading everything I could find online and elsewhere, I figured Id wait a couple years before getting one. I was raised on Chevy 350 V-8s. I switched to FWD MAZDA 323s and Proteges. In February of this year, I went to get an estimate on my 60,000 mile service and replace my timing belt and hoses to keep my extended warranty intact. Talk about sticker shock, over $1,100 estimate with labor. I used my X-plan discount thru work and returned to RWD with no regrets. I am quite impressed with this V6, roughly 18 mpg city, tight as a drum and makes me feel like a kid again. I dont have the anti-lock brakes/traction control but have had no problems at all in rain or snow.

  • My New 05 Mustang love affair - 2005 Ford Mustang

This is my first new car since 1983 and it was worth the wait. Ford really got it right. Great performance, great fun, looks, personality and value. Two GTs for one Corvette. I love Corvettes but I just cant pass this Mustang by. I like the fold down back seats. Just cant find much to fault anywhere.

  • Great Car for the money - 2005 Ford Mustang

Overall this has been a very good car. The build quality is great and the car performs very well. The issues that I have had have been small and are not unexpected with a new car. The only issue I have had has been the check engine light came on twice at once at about 600 and 1,000 miles. The dealership kept the car for about a week each time to diagnose the issue. I am not entirely sure how they fixed the issue but I have not had it reoccur in the past 2,000 miles.

  • what a ride - 2005 Ford Mustang

I went from an SUV to the Mustang and I thought I would regret the size change but let me just tell you this. WHAT A RIDE. I have no regrets and think it is the best car I could have ever bought. It handles like a true sports car should. Want to let your hair down and have a great ride. Get a Mustang.

This is one of the best looking cars at any price. It has been flawless. Factory stereos could be better, but I do like the MP3 option. Lots of thumbs up and positive comments about this car. I have the GT with the 5 speed auto. Ive never driven a car that was such a blast to simply drive! Gas mileage is not too bad on the highway, but in stop and go conditions it drops down pretty quickly, 24 mpg highway, 16.5 mpg around town, but I drive with a heavy-ish foot -- with this car its hard not to. I would buy another without a second thought, way to go Ford!

I purchased my first 2005 V6 convertible back in April 2005 when there were very few to be found. I believe this dealer took advantage of that fact. Anyway it was the Windveil Blue with a black top, beautiful!

  • Great car needs more quality work inside - 2005 Ford Mustang
    By -

The car has been a pleasure to own. It rides really well especially compared to previous years for the Mustang. The interior is a little cheap even for trying to be retro looking. Upgrade to the leather seats. They are much more comfortable. Overall, the car is just what you would expect from a Mustang and it really turns a lot of heads while you are driving it.
