Overview & Reviews
Heavily updated is the 2003 SVT Mustang Cobra, which makes 390 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque thanks to the addition of an Eaton supercharger. A new six-speed manual transmission drives the rear wheels through a 3.55 rear axle ratio. Larger wheels and tires come standard, along with stiffer springs and a tubular cross brace. Cobra convertibles have a cloth top, while both cars get new seats with upgraded leather and suede upholstery. A limited-production Mach 1 model arrives later in the year with a massaged 4.6-liter V8 engine making at least 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, a functional shaker hood with ram-air scoop, black striping, unique leather seating and retro-design Magnum 500 alloy wheels, and, of course, a Mach 460 audio system. Mach 1 can be ordered in a variety of colors with either a manual or automatic transmission. Like the Mustang Bullitt before it, the Mach 1 comes with a lowered, retuned suspension and additional frame rail connectors for a stiffer body. Large 13-inch Brembo front rotors and upgraded calipers are standard.
Standard V6 and V8 GT models change little for 2003. A V6 Pony Package includes 16-inch polished alloy wheels and the GT's scooped hood. All V6 models get a new hood design, and four new colors debut.
- Available V8 power, variety of trim levels, healthy dose of American attitude.
- Archaic structure, aged design.

Awesome retro car - 2003 Ford Mustang
By SchMACH Good - January 13 - 10:00 amI had a 99 GT and loved every minute of driving and owning it until I saw a Torch Red Mach 1 roll off the truck and I had to have it. Kudos to Ford for actually making the shaker hood functional. Too often all we see is this cosmetic inserts in the hood and side scoops which leave you asking why? This car is incredible. The power is great and the retro features arent overdone, but a nice touch. If youre one who likes to turns heads on the street, this car is a great buy.

Mustang Lover - 2003 Ford Mustang
By ponyxpress - December 20 - 10:57 pmEven though this is only the second Mustang of this body style and the fact the the 05s are out, I love this car. The Mustang has everything that I had been looking for and leaves plenty of options to upgrade to make the car personally yours.

This Is "One Bad Hoss" - 2003 Ford Mustang
By big c - December 7 - 10:00 amThis is my second Mustang. I traded my 1999 GT for this Stang and although I regretted getting rid of it, I couldnt resist this MACH I. This Hoss likes to run. The ride is much improved, quieter, and the bigger brakes and traction control really improves handling. The shaker hood and low V8 rumble turns a lot of heads. This car has a "Dont mess with me" kind of look to it. The only problems Ive found was a non- functional windshield washer pump and a cracked headlamp cover, which were promptly replaced my local ford dealership.

Dreams do come true - 2003 Ford Mustang
By Rick - December 4 - 7:22 pmI found my Cobra in June, 2004 after she was a showroom princess for over a year. Not only is the 2003 supercharged Cobra all the reviews say they are, theyre off the scale in fun to drive. Ive added a Bassani exhaust system (headers/H-pipe w/catback, 4" tips), K&N air filter, 2.8" supercharger pulley and Xcalibrator chip and now pull a true 428 rwhp. Its hard to get this in any other vehicle comparitably priced, and yes, my friends, it is a Ford. This car garners as much attention as my Harley does, and its show quality. Nice job, Blue Oval.

AWESOME CAR - 2003 Ford Mustang
By Herc95 - December 1 - 10:00 amYou must drive one to experience it. The car has outstanding potential for increasing performance, but even stock its a rush. I currently have just under 3000 miles on it and it is still breaking in.
