Overview & Reviews
Heavily updated is the 2003 SVT Mustang Cobra, which makes 390 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque thanks to the addition of an Eaton supercharger. A new six-speed manual transmission drives the rear wheels through a 3.55 rear axle ratio. Larger wheels and tires come standard, along with stiffer springs and a tubular cross brace. Cobra convertibles have a cloth top, while both cars get new seats with upgraded leather and suede upholstery. A limited-production Mach 1 model arrives later in the year with a massaged 4.6-liter V8 engine making at least 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, a functional shaker hood with ram-air scoop, black striping, unique leather seating and retro-design Magnum 500 alloy wheels, and, of course, a Mach 460 audio system. Mach 1 can be ordered in a variety of colors with either a manual or automatic transmission. Like the Mustang Bullitt before it, the Mach 1 comes with a lowered, retuned suspension and additional frame rail connectors for a stiffer body. Large 13-inch Brembo front rotors and upgraded calipers are standard.
Standard V6 and V8 GT models change little for 2003. A V6 Pony Package includes 16-inch polished alloy wheels and the GT's scooped hood. All V6 models get a new hood design, and four new colors debut.
- Available V8 power, variety of trim levels, healthy dose of American attitude.
- Archaic structure, aged design.

By sadigirl - December 8 - 10:00 amI traded in a paid off 2003 V.W. 1.8 turbo for this. I have no regrets. It is so fun to drive and looks great. It has been to the shop a few times, but what new car does not have a problem.

Worth Every Penny - 2003 Ford Mustang
By Greg - November 24 - 2:45 pmHad it about 5 months and love it. I am really a Chevy man and thought about the Camaro, but wanted something with a back seat for small kids (8 & 11). Overall, Im completely satisfied. My wife loves her minivan and didnt understand why I wanted a sports car, but now shes feelin it. Im in my 30s and didnt want another commuter vehicle I wanted something different. The Mustang suits me very well. If youre looking for more refinement, try the 05.

Not made for comfort - 2003 Ford Mustang
By Robert Yamin - September 16 - 2:35 pmWorst car I ever had. Bought car with 1200 miles, drove 1 year. Very uncomfortable and rough ride. Horrible gas mileage and poor pickup. Car is not made for a 5ft 11 inch 175 pound person. I had a 89 GT 5.0 so I thought I would like the newer model but should have kept the older one.

Fun to drive, interior needs improvement - 2003 Ford Mustang
By namaral - September 14 - 10:00 amThis machine will blow the doors off of just about anything on the road, short of a Ferrarri. With very minor modifications, the robust cast iron V8 block will take a significant amount of more boost. A smaller pulley, free flowing cat back exhaust system, and new air filter will have this pony up around 500 HP. My only complaints are the shoddy trim quality and dated design of the interior, and the "blender-like" whine of the supercharger. Overall, a very fun vehicle to drive and its certainly a head turner. Ford has grossly under stated its horsepower at 390 HP, which is actually near 430 HP.

This car cures mid-life crisis - 2003 Ford Mustang
By fishboy - August 7 - 10:00 amAbundant low-end torque makes this modern day musclecar run off the line like a scalded dog. The big blocks of yester-year only wish they could match this car in terms of perfomance, comfort and amenities. To put in in perspective: This car has the same acceleration stats as the 1986 Lambourghini Countach 5000s. Nuff said.

Fun, but has bugs - 2003 Ford Mustang
By chezchuck - August 3 - 10:00 amGood lookin, great sound system in the Mach 1000. As an Old Guy, I love to pull up next to the kids and crank up the base. Fun to drive. Mine came with a manual transmission glitch that, apparently, is fairly common - grinding from 1st to 2nd gear. The mechanics wont acknowledge this, but Ive read it on stang forums. This needs to be addressed and corrected.
