This Year's Model Updates:

Heavily updated is the 2003 SVT Mustang Cobra, which makes 390 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque thanks to the addition of an Eaton supercharger. A new six-speed manual transmission drives the rear wheels through a 3.55 rear axle ratio. Larger wheels and tires come standard, along with stiffer springs and a tubular cross brace. Cobra convertibles have a cloth top, while both cars get new seats with upgraded leather and suede upholstery. A limited-production Mach 1 model arrives later in the year with a massaged 4.6-liter V8 engine making at least 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, a functional shaker hood with ram-air scoop, black striping, unique leather seating and retro-design Magnum 500 alloy wheels, and, of course, a Mach 460 audio system. Mach 1 can be ordered in a variety of colors with either a manual or automatic transmission. Like the Mustang Bullitt before it, the Mach 1 comes with a lowered, retuned suspension and additional frame rail connectors for a stiffer body. Large 13-inch Brembo front rotors and upgraded calipers are standard.

Standard V6 and V8 GT models change little for 2003. A V6 Pony Package includes 16-inch polished alloy wheels and the GT's scooped hood. All V6 models get a new hood design, and four new colors debut.

Pros:
  • Available V8 power, variety of trim levels, healthy dose of American attitude.
Cons:
  • Archaic structure, aged design.

  • What a CAR - 2003 Ford Mustang

This is a car that has the dependability of a 2000 up model car yet has the power of the late 60s early 70s and then some. Never mine the better gas mileage and comfort from seating to stereo sound. The car is something else and can compare to the more expensive sports cars out there this is from an old Corvette guy.

My first new car.I have the auto and premium package. Its extremely fun to drive and has a good amount of power to satisfy me.I like the exterior/interior dimensions and inside panels. Its all driver oriented and lights up nice at night.Small and cozy inside. Back seats are fine. The mach 460 sound system is amazing. All it needs is an American flag on the back.

Great car for commuting and medium distance trips. Trunk is surprising large and you have even more room if you drop the rear seats. Added a Flowpath chambered muffler and twin tip extension to give it a little better sound. The V-6 has good power, runs well. The 193 net hp V6 is close to the net hp rating of the 1965s 289 HI-PO model. ( 270 gross hp ). Given an much better auto transmission in the 2003, 0-60 times are actually one second better. Hard pressed to trade this in on 2005, even though they are even faster and handle better.

All I have ever dreamed of was a red Mustang! My dream came true in February of 04. I love my Mustang. It is an awesome car, not to mention that it draws so much attention. I love the color the best. Red is my favorite. I love my car and I wouldnt trade it for anything, except another red Mustang!

This car was fun to drive stock, but I needed more. After a few "inexpensive" MODS it is now really fun to drive. Add ons include Magna-Flow Cat back exhaust, Steeda Under-Drive pulleys, Steeda Tri-Axe short throw shifter, C&L 85mm MAF with TrueFlow intake pipe, K&N air filter. 3.73 Ford Performance gear in the rear- end. These were only a 1,500$ investment and really woke up my GT!

I was looking for a ragtop as my second car and I found an 03 with 3500 miles on it. Ive had the car for two months and what a kick in the pants to drive. It has a great sound system (Mach 1000), upgraded wheels, more than enough power, handles tight, I could go on an on. Im just kicking myself for waiting this long to buy a pony car.

This is the best car Ive ever driven and although the new Mustang is awesome, I cant bring myself to give up my 2003. Its fun, fast and the envy of everyone. Its given me NO problems whatsoever and my family members constantly beg me to drive it. Its a V6, but feels like a V8 and is truly a pleasure to drive, even in Southern Cal traffic!

  • Just Plain Fun - 2003 Ford Mustang

Most fun I have had driving a car. Since the wife got the minivan for her and our three children, I wanted a car for me. This fits the bill perfectly! Fun to drive, exhaust note is exhilarating, performance is outstanding and it has the potential to do so much more!

Since day 1 it has not surprise me on the great performance and handling, the 8cyl are fast but the six really outshine on the handling side just a blast to drive thru the cyn. ford needs to include the rear swaybar or atleast a option, added mine and now its a perfect sports coupe.
