This Year's Model Updates:

Heavily updated is the 2003 SVT Mustang Cobra, which makes 390 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque thanks to the addition of an Eaton supercharger. A new six-speed manual transmission drives the rear wheels through a 3.55 rear axle ratio. Larger wheels and tires come standard, along with stiffer springs and a tubular cross brace. Cobra convertibles have a cloth top, while both cars get new seats with upgraded leather and suede upholstery. A limited-production Mach 1 model arrives later in the year with a massaged 4.6-liter V8 engine making at least 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, a functional shaker hood with ram-air scoop, black striping, unique leather seating and retro-design Magnum 500 alloy wheels, and, of course, a Mach 460 audio system. Mach 1 can be ordered in a variety of colors with either a manual or automatic transmission. Like the Mustang Bullitt before it, the Mach 1 comes with a lowered, retuned suspension and additional frame rail connectors for a stiffer body. Large 13-inch Brembo front rotors and upgraded calipers are standard.

Standard V6 and V8 GT models change little for 2003. A V6 Pony Package includes 16-inch polished alloy wheels and the GT's scooped hood. All V6 models get a new hood design, and four new colors debut.

Pros:
  • Available V8 power, variety of trim levels, healthy dose of American attitude.
Cons:
  • Archaic structure, aged design.

  • Too much fun - 2003 Ford Mustang

I had always wanted a GT, so when they were running some rebates I went for it. No regrets since. The only problem Ive had with it is a nut coming loose on one of the top drive cylinders which I was able to fix myself. I cant get enough of the power and sound even in stock form. After leaving it with my Dad for a year while I was overseas, I wasnt out of the driveway before I said to myself, "This is a fast car!" I also think its better looking than the new one, but thats just me. Its no wonder Chevy couldnt sell Camaros, the Mustang is just about perfect. No frills, just fun.

After driving a Corolla for several years of commuting it was time to get back to a fun car. I owned a 99 Mustang so I know this was what I wanted again. In the past 6 months I have relished in my renewed love affair with this car. You just cant get this kind of performance for the money anymore. Really get on it and you can get the tires spinning even going into 3rd gear...loads of fun!

The ford mustang is my first car and i needed to have it because i was brought up with one. My mom had an 82 mustang, it lasted 17 years before it bit the big one. The GT mustang is great. I only have one problem, i think that the interior design could be a little better. But otherwise its the best car i have ever seen and i love cars. You should really get one, there great.

  • 2003 Cobra convertible - 2003 Ford Mustang

Ive owned this black 2003 Cobra convertible for about 8 months. I havent had any problems. Since moving to Florida, I was looking for a convertible. The car shakes a little (probably because its a convertible). It has plenty of power, but feels HEAVY. The stock exhaust is too quiet.

  • Still the best bang for the buck!!! - 2003 Ford Mustang

I can honestly say that I will never purchase a GM product again. The performance, options and quality that Ford has built into these vehicles is unbelievable. Ive already added a pro 5.0 shifter, bullit s.s. pedals, roush cold air and flow mufflers. The true duals really like to irritate the neighbors too. Love pulling up to the ricers sounding like weed eaters and opening up a can of v8. My insurance is less than a 4cyl celica, gas mileage averages around 19/20 combo. Love this car and plan on keeping this one for a very long time. Previous car 96 TA

Excellent power, great looks, nice sounding stereo. Must change out the exhaust. Sounds like a Taurus stock. Handles great

Ive had my 2000 Mustang Convt for one year now. Its a fun car to drive. I love having a convertible. Great exterior design, but again interior design. Lots of aftermarket accessories available. The car itself gives me a mediocre driving impression. Strong V6 though. However, it has poor wet weather traction. I would recommend it to someone who like a an affordable, fun, nice looking couple/convertible.
