This Year's Model Updates:

2001 Ford Mustang GT models get unique hood and side scoops, so that you can tell 'em apart from V6 models. They also receive standard 17-inch wheels, and V6 Convertibles get 16-inch wheels as standard. All cars have a revised center console and blacked-out headlights and spoilers. The Mach 460 stereo system comes with an in-dash six-disc CD changer. A new "premium" trim line is created for both V6 and V8 models. After a one-year hiatus, the Ford SVT Mustang Cobra returns for 2001.

Pros:
  • Strong V8 power, competent chassis and brakes, good crash test scores, ragtop option.
Cons:
  • Solid rear axle, dorky-looking fake hood and side scoops, poor stereo ergonomics.

I love my Cobra. I treat it bad like it deserves and still nothing has gone wrong except for some bald tires.

Ive had no major problems with the car that werent a result of my own modifications. In factory trim the car is great and everytime Ive been to the dealership for service Ive been treated well. The Cobra is a product of SVT, almost a company to itself within Ford, and being so your treated differently than a normal vehicle owner at the dealership, SVT has specially trained mechanics at all authorized SVT dealers and if the vehicle is to be kept for a few days you automatically get a free rental.

What can I say.. Ford finally made the no-frills GT weve always wanted. The emphasis is on under-stated looks, torque and exclusiveity. Spend 5 grand on a supercharger and youve got yourself the ultimate sleeper. Vette owners beware...

Love the RWD and V-8 power. Dont get the V-6. I like the firm leather seats. Headroom is poor, but expected in a Mustang. Averaged 18-20 MPG over last two years on mixed HWY/city use. Good sound system in the GT. No major problems with the car in the first 36K miles other than the CD player jamming discs. Dealer fixed w/ no problems.

2 words....Adrenaline Rush. This is the most fun car I have ever driven. A combination of class and power.

We bought the car new and 8 hours later, I had my first speeding ticket. What a fun car to drive...with a radar detector. Interior fit and finish is lacking and the convertible top allows any and all outside noise to enter, but thats where the Mach stero system shines. It drowns out all the outside noise while you put the car through its paces. The V8 provides plenty of zip. We had a 6 cylinder version of the 1996 Mustang for 4 years and it struggled to get out of its own way. In my opinion, the 6 cylinder version of this car is a big waste of your money. Be sure to include an extra $250 for a good radar detector.

Ive owned a 2001 Mustang Convertible for about a year now and I must say it is a vast improvement over the boring Front-wheel drive sedan I owned before. The power with the V6 is adequate, though not stellar--but a few aftermarket performance parts can solve that problem. The car is also surprisingly sturdy, handling a collison with a toyota pick up with minimal damage. By far its best attribute is its agility.

The 2001 Ford Mustang is a very fun car to drive. The 3.8L sedan provides a great balance between power and fuel economy. Handling is great, comfort, although tight for large/tall people, is good. Very nice design inside and out. The only complaint is that the interior is a little heavy on the plastic. The inside of the door feels a little "soft" due to the plastic. Overall, however, super car. No regrets with the purchase.

Ive been driving since Memorial Day and have loved this car. The manual transmission is somewhat knotchy but otherwise alright. I love the exterior and interior styling. This looks a lot like the 69 Mach I my brother had when I was a kid. I think it beats owning the run of the mill cars out there, and sets you apart from the rest of the crowd.
