This Year's Model Updates:

Heavily updated is the 2003 SVT Mustang Cobra, which makes 390 horsepower and 390 pound-feet of torque thanks to the addition of an Eaton supercharger. A new six-speed manual transmission drives the rear wheels through a 3.55 rear axle ratio. Larger wheels and tires come standard, along with stiffer springs and a tubular cross brace. Cobra convertibles have a cloth top, while both cars get new seats with upgraded leather and suede upholstery. A limited-production Mach 1 model arrives later in the year with a massaged 4.6-liter V8 engine making at least 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, a functional shaker hood with ram-air scoop, black striping, unique leather seating and retro-design Magnum 500 alloy wheels, and, of course, a Mach 460 audio system. Mach 1 can be ordered in a variety of colors with either a manual or automatic transmission. Like the Mustang Bullitt before it, the Mach 1 comes with a lowered, retuned suspension and additional frame rail connectors for a stiffer body. Large 13-inch Brembo front rotors and upgraded calipers are standard.

Standard V6 and V8 GT models change little for 2003. A V6 Pony Package includes 16-inch polished alloy wheels and the GT's scooped hood. All V6 models get a new hood design, and four new colors debut.

Pros:
  • Available V8 power, variety of trim levels, healthy dose of American attitude.
Cons:
  • Archaic structure, aged design.

I can honestly say that I will never purchase a GM product again. The performance, options and quality that Ford has built into these vehicles is unbelievable. Ive already added a pro 5.0 shifter, bullit s.s. pedals, roush cold air and flow mufflers. The true duals really like to irritate the neighbors too. Love pulling up to the ricers sounding like weed eaters and opening up a can of v8. My insurance is less than a 4cyl celica, gas mileage averages around 19/20 combo. Love this car and plan on keeping this one for a very long time. Previous car 96 TA

I traded in a paid off 2003 V.W. 1.8 turbo for this. I have no regrets. It is so fun to drive and looks great. It has been to the shop a few times, but what new car does not have a problem.

Had it about 5 months and love it. I am really a Chevy man and thought about the Camaro, but wanted something with a back seat for small kids (8 & 11). Overall, Im completely satisfied. My wife loves her minivan and didnt understand why I wanted a sports car, but now shes feelin it. Im in my 30s and didnt want another commuter vehicle I wanted something different. The Mustang suits me very well. If youre looking for more refinement, try the 05.

Abundant low-end torque makes this modern day musclecar run off the line like a scalded dog. The big blocks of yester-year only wish they could match this car in terms of perfomance, comfort and amenities. To put in in perspective: This car has the same acceleration stats as the 1986 Lambourghini Countach 5000s. Nuff said.

Ive had this car for almost 2 years. Had to have one transmission put in, other than that no problems. Go to car shows and even took 3rd place with it. It runs great.
